Mike Posted September 4, 2003 Posted September 4, 2003 Catching up on fanzines at mo, as always theres a lot of info and as often happens things seem to run into things lik e that snake that eats himself And so in reply to comment in Lowton review Pete Bangor, mentioned a JB track sounded good at Lowton Hughes as always throws up with one of his quick off top of head stabs at the title. Usually cause confusion, cloud the issue ..... Chris Turnbull in latest skm has at number one in his "how to pick a winner" section has a paragraph on James Brown - People Wake up and live - Polydor Which closes it all up, and while my guess was a bit off, I said possibly had "human" in the title, if look at it sort of lateral not that far off.... better mention, cracking track!
Daved Posted September 4, 2003 Posted September 4, 2003 Mike, It could've been "Your Love Was Good For Me" from 1972. It's a great soul record and unlike most of his funk stuff. Cheers Dave
TheBigO Posted September 4, 2003 Posted September 4, 2003 Taffy @ The Ghetto! has been spinning a few blinding lp only tracks by the Godfather so I guess you'll find it's probably one of those as I know that Seriously Soulful's crew are raving over the same tracks. I'll mug him tomorrow and get the titles for you.
Guest Posted September 4, 2003 Posted September 4, 2003 It was myself that first brought this up. Kev Edwards has played it the last couple of times at Lowton it's a 90's release produced by Soul II Soul. Can't remember what it's called though! Thanks Pete
Guest Posted September 4, 2003 Posted September 4, 2003 Pete thought you be in italy by now, (2-2 being the hughes prediction) Is 'Universal James' the lp title? the "people " one was on about is on "mutha nature" lp
