Guest MBarrett Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 You can pick up a copy of this book for £20'ish - but the first 100 pages are available for free on Google Books. Might tempt a few people to track down a copy - or order one through the local library (cost me 60p last time I used that service) Click here

Baz Atkinson Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 (edited) Just my view for what its worth "this is well reserched and the guy who wrote it was obviously involved in that period of the scenes history" it may sit well on a bookshelf in some academic library cos in my opinion this reads like a disertation!!! Im not gonna knock it cos as a piece of first hand involvement its pretty well written but the scene has really moved on,splintered and evolved with different dimensions and politics!!! ID like to see a real objective account of the scene now expsosing some of the myths, cliches, peculularities, etc I cant speak for other people but when someone quotes Harolrambros and talks about drug disengagement i just piss myself laughing ad think for every disengaged soulie out there theres anoher 20 engaged LOL. I think the northern soul scene is well documented with soul survivor type reads lol,if someone could pick up on the rare soul scene and the shannigans that have went on there then perhaps we could have a realjolly reading about it???
