John May
How would it be possible to tell weather its authentic or not ?. Link to comment Social source share
Guest
How would it be possible to tell weather its authentic or not ?. An old 60's acetate doesn't smell really. A New one will. You can't peel a label off an acetate as the acetate draws the glue and it is rock hard when dried. Would be brittle and would break rather than peel. Can be very hard to spot the difference in some though, especially fakes done years ago :-( Link to comment Social source share
Guest
But then again saying that, imnot too sure what time span is on the smell/not smell, as I had an acetate of that shite song by Arthur Willis (the hurting will be over when people STOP playing it ;-)) which didn't smell and wasn't that old, flogged it to some guy in Scotland for a few pence, about what the real one is worth! (depending if the DJ actually has a real copy!) Link to comment Social source share
Guest
My advice would be don't even go there, much safer to try and locate a Smoke authentic original. I'm not saying this is not authentic but let's see how it does. regards - Mark Bicknell. Link to comment Social source share
Mike
just got a vision of people all over country digging out acetates and sniffing them smiling at it, and resisting the urge! Link to comment Social source share
Tony Smith
I must say it looks totally unconvincing!, I've much better fakes. Even the smallest studios used a label, whether the details were then handwritten or, typed on. White label test pressings a different kettle, I've seen them written, typed and in the case of Betty LLoyd stuck on kidnap letter style! Stay away from this one!
