That'll be UK Brunswick not UK Decca.

So it didnt come out on UK Decca then?

Me and KevH were talking about this, it must be a Canadian issue then. The seller was Canadian but described it as a UK issue. Blue label with one of those triangular centres - any info on this?

It's South African probably.

More likely to be South African.

Or possibly German... I've got a German copy with sleeve, but its a demo (I think) with a Jukebox (U.S. style) centre

Does yours say Demo? As mine is just a white label, but doesn't say demo, anyway one of the nicest picture covers, I love it. Don't think, there are any other german copies than the white ones. Just know of one other copy, so I think, it's pretty rare, too.

cheers

It's packed away in my loft at the minute, and it's a while since I saw it, so it could well be an issue.

The plot thickens, I've seen a Spanish one that looked very similar with regard to the triangular centre.

Is it worth owt Pete/Joe?

It could be Spanish but I wasn't sure if the Spain issue had a tri centre (or was on Decca).

Seems to have been released everywhere, this one.

It came out on german issue as well but is soooo rare!

I once had it on issue but sold it when I got the demo with the picture sleeve, thinking this to be the rarest format

Mind even the german demo is not that easy to find...

It would make an excellent thread topic and, like yourself, I'd love to know what other soul records were relased there. Things like "Comin' Home Baby" by Dee Dee Sharp and "The Champion" by Willie Mitchell were issued on 45 out there. These tracks are only available on LP in the States.

Other question that springs to mind is that were they only targeted at the black South African population, given the Apartheid situation there until 1990?

Would also be interesting to know how many were issued as 78s - I think they were pressing 78s in South Africa until around 1965. So, early Motown a possibility? I guess this is the point where we call on Tony Rounce's help - you got any nice SA label scans you can share?

It also came out on Life, Canadian, with the same design as Decca US (Rainbow) with a solid centre.

I often wondered about the Life label, having seen so many Brenda Lee LPs on the label. Thanks for the heads-up Tony!
