Epic Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 thats all very good but wheres the flasher There used to be one in our local park !!
Patto Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 True Stomping was an artform when done correctly. It involves a fast shuffling of the feet to very uptempo pounders.Back in my youth club days i was quite good and my feet used to move as fast as bees wings.Lots of lads could do it but it was knackering and to be honest thats why it has died out,but you still see people on todays scene stomping in bursts.Big stomping records at our youthy were The Champion The Kid Dance To the music The Flasher Along comes mary Reaching for the best
ajb Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 (edited) Hiya mate,I asked a dj(small letters)to play this for my wife recently"its played out mate"he told me,asked again, the dance floor filled, djs huh? i think its like any record you grew up with, its nice to hear them every once in a while, but not over, and over again. but hey, i still "love on a mountain top" alan Edited April 27, 2009 by ajb

I remember before I'd got the hang of it, being the only person in the middle of the dancefloor at Brum locarno all dayer not stomping to the middle bit in Velvet Hammer 'Happy' - pretty embarrassing made sure I got on the good foot and still stomp now tho my specs get steamed up !!!

Jim G Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 (edited) in the stompin heyday you could hear this lot played one after the other! Boy was I fit then. We all still want to stomp, but age and alcohol get in the way! Terrible Tom 'We Were Made For Each Other' Williams & Watson "Too Late" Salvadors "Stick By Me Baby" Joe Hicks 'Don't It Make You Feel Funky' Willie Mitchell "The Champion" Plus if you were energetic, follow this up with Case of Tyme "Manifesto" Jades "I'm Where It's At" Reparata & The Delrons "Panic" And then when completey knackered Detroit Executives "Cool Off" Edited April 28, 2009 by jim g

A great aerobic workout for over 2 minutes even at 54. Just turn on the pacemaker and 'GO FOR IT'. Even your dodctor would be pleased to know you could go all the way through with it. Keep on Stompin' lads. Tony T BONE. OZ. K.T.F.
Steve G Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 At the risk of hijacking the thread there are two types of record refered to as stompers. Thjose with a bang bang 4:4 beat that are simply fast records with a heavy percussion, and those with a complex tripping rhythm.....so one man's stomper is another man's errr stomper I suppose.....The ones in that mag were probably the first type...... The stompers I think we're on about are the latter (fast tripping complex rhythm) such as: Lovelites, Flaming Emeralds, Gene Chandler, "Do me right", Wil Collins, 7th Wonder 'Captain", Joe Hicks, Alfie Khan, World Column, Cheryl Berdell, Life "Tell me why",Anthony White "I can't turn you loose".....in fact I'd say most stompers were influenced by the Mecca / Cleethorpes Pier type sound when I think about it....
Guest souldancer Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Time - Edwin Starr ,best stomper ever This would definitely be in my top ten stomper list.. A couple from me....Todays People - S.O.S (All We Need Is Time For Love) and my all time fave has to be said...Vicki Sue Robinson - Turn The Beat Around It's all about the break... Julia
Guest Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 (edited) Don't know what others think but I would consider this 'stompin' to a modern tune even if I am shot down - it's fantastic dancing wish I could master those moves "> Edited April 28, 2009 by mikecook
