Missgoldie Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 The Twinight version and the Chosen Few recording seem to be the same song. Which one came first. Thanks Samantha
Sean Hampsey Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Elvin Spencer on Winner came first. Elvin Spencer on Twinight came second. Chosen Few on Bandit & Chosen Few next. Finally, Elvin Spencer on E S Cozy. Great tune in any event Sean

Great tune in any event Sean this information is 100% correct. Also, the winner version is different than all the other versions, all the other versions are the same recording. The chosen few also repressed their soul beat 45 on their chosen few label.

Bob, have you ever thought of writing a book on Chicago Soul , one that goes into even greater detail and depth than Robert Pruter's excellent work ?
Corbett80 Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Bob, have you ever thought of writing a book on Chicago Soul , one that goes into even greater detail and depth than Robert Pruter's excellent work ? The Winner cut being far superior imho, much like the first Willie Tee on blue Gatur.
mariuj Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 what would the Chosen Few on The Chosen Few label fetch? It seems to be hard to get hold of.
Guest Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Also have this on the winner label the flip (dont make this dream come true) is also a fantastic slice of soul has the other versions also got the same flip Kieran
Garethx Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Also have this on the winner label the flip (dont make this dream come true) is also a fantastic slice of soul has the other versions also got the same flip Kieran The flip of the Twinight and Chosen Few cut is another great ballad titled "You're Being Unfair" / "You Been Unfair" respectively. Love all four sides personally. Both versions of Lift This Hurt are essential Chicago soul with blistering vocals from Elvin.
