Patto
Went to the first Riley Smith Hall Night, and have to say the floor is great. However is it really bigger than Brighouse,Kings Hall Stoke, and the Tower because it doesn't appear to be to me.Maybe if the tables were cleared off the floor it would have looked bigger,i know there has to be seating for the big attendance but i hate to see great floors taken up by tables along the edges. The Riley is a must for the Soulie to dance on though Link to comment Social source share

Guest bobby's girl
Floor at New Century Hall, Manchester was pretty good sizewise, but for me it has to be the Ritz. Great atmosphere, tho' with all that bouncing around you need to wear a sports bra... eh girls Link to comment Social source share

Suinoz
Past: Bedford All-Nighter. Present: Opera House, Bournemouth. Have to agree the Bournemouth Opera House is one awesome venue but without appearing baiased i reckon you would have to go a long way to beat our venue here in Fremantle, W.A. The Flybynight Club is a 120 year old military drill hall with a curved roof similar to the old Casino. It smells old and has a great atmosphere and the floor is to die for. Plus a sound system to back it all up. Ask anyone who's been there. I love the place, can't you tell?? Stay soulful, Tony T BONE. South West Soul, Fremantle, Western Australia. Ernie Andrews
The original raised floor at Manchester Ritz, you didn't need to dance, just bounce along with the rest of the crowd. Great sprung floor at the Sterling Suite, Yate allnighters, but the Baths venue was orrible. Loved both Wigans floor and The Mecca's and nearly any event help at Mecca venues in the 70's, Coalville Tiffs, Liecester Palais, Nottingham, Newcastle (Stoke), Birmingham Lacarno.......... Have to agree with Dave on this one as the Ritz in manchester in the 70s. When the French fries came on - if you sat down it was like being on a trampoline! Very dissapointed some 20 years or so later when I wen there and the place had been restructured. ThemMecca was pretty good as well as long as you got out of the way of Epic sliding from one side to the other! When I was young Joe Turners dancing academy was pretty good The worst Ive ever seen has to be Grasshoppers in Preston- The concrete Pillars make it really dicey for doing spins etc or you get amouth full of concrete if you get it wrong Link to comment Social source share

Professorturnups
I'm sorry to be biased (well actually i'm not... ) but Rugby's dancefloor is like Mary Poppins. Perfect in every way! I'll second that - but whenever I've been there this guy who's always dressed in white totally covers the side of the dance floor in talc (actually could cover himself in talc first) - totally not needed. And why do people pour talc on a certain area and then fook off somewhere else to dance??!! Mark C Link to comment Social source share

richardf
Bradford Queens Hall Upstairs the floor had a life of its own when Steve, Danny etc played 70s (and that echo) Downstairs the floor didn't matter, the music (both in Sam/Arthur days and when Barry/Dave took over) was sublime.
