Originals V Reissues Slightly Different Aspect

Did a very similar thing on ebay (spread over a few weeks) and the result was the same!!

I know they are, thats why I priced them like I did! I only use the price guide when it's one I don't know anyway

Don't you read the threads Pete? For every 2 people who play OVO there are 25 who play reissues, boots and CDs. There's your answer.

More a sign of a lack of cash / willingness to spend it.

Seems to be the same few records that people are chasing, and even less willing to take a punt on something they don't know is a sure fire floorfiller.

I blame it on everyone being a DJ...

I hear of collectors selling up their originals and "downgrading" to re-issues/pressings.

If that becomes the norm amongst collectors - then is surely follows that the demand for boots will go UP and the price will GO up too!

It makes money sense to buy up as many boots now

Any collectors who want to swop some of thier orig for some of my boots - give me a shout.

I'm sure if you throw in a bit of cash on top we can work something out

*Trophy records defined as "Top 200 rarities" on every wants list you ever see

All I can say - personally - is that I'm off golfing to Augusta for a fortnight - so records are on the back-burner (though I did take note of 2 or 3 originals - depends on how much dosh I win or lose)

Could also add weight to the theory that 'fake' DJ's are becoming the norm??

This really doesn't surprise me, 'djs' are springing up from all over the place & a lot of them aren't at all bothered about OVO, infact some are quite happy to not even bother playing vinyl, CDs & Ipods seem to be getting more of a look in.

There's 6ts dos of a sort springing up all over Brighton, there's lots of wannabes with hardly any records & little knowledge in some cases spinning in pubs/restaurants/bars you name it.

What this is doing is splitting the crowd several ways so that you end up with a handful of interested parties in each pub/bar etc, the rest of the crowd is made of joe public who couldn't give a t*ss what's being played.

All the above, sad but true, but I was just a bit surprised at how many I did sell to be honest. Someone has a Salvadors bootleg on here for £60. Would anyone in their right mind pay that? Why not get a carver done for £15? The blue Salvadors has no "kudos" at all.

My Chase Is On boot for £40, Lilllie Bryant for £50 and Keni Lewis - Not The Marrying Kind - well thats priceless really and I should know.

I'm not surprised, i've had conversations with a lot of these 'djs' & to be fair some of them do only want to play vinyl but hardly any are remotely bothered if it's an original issue, as long as it's on vinyl then they think they're doing the right thing.

Must admit it's a long time since i paid a large sum for a piece of vinyl, doesn't really seem a lot of point, apart from a very small minority noone seems that bothered anymore, maybe it's not that bad a thing as it is supposed to be about the music rather than antique collecting saying that personally i do like to have the real thing if at all possible.
