Ralf Mehnert
Hello, I posted the above record in the wants section. All the answers I got told me there is only one release by The Prophets on the Stephanye label (My Kind Of Girl). I always thought the same, but there is this nice record on an old double LP vinyl sampler from Soul Supply (The Soul of...Detroit LPSD 136) from 1989. The liner notes tells: The Prophets - Could It Be (Stephanye), written by G.Redd and J. Crosby, produced by Redd and Capito (like My Kind Of Girl). The Prophets not the Atlanta group take. A one shot deal with Indie `Stephanye` the result being a non seller. It`s definitly not the same group, because the record has a female singer. It`s a nice midtempo record who reminds me to Dena Barnes `Who Am I`. ...but what is it?????? Please help... Ralf Mehnert
I had another look on the record label from the LP. The sleeve said it`s The Prophets but this was a print mistake. The label said it is Mike Farrow. This is wrong as well. It`s Mikki Farrows b-side of her rare record on Karate. Link to comment Social source share

(Red Coach - Gene Redd Jr) Same Person, Father / Son? Link to comment Social source share
boba
GENE REDD Influence on both records. (Red Coach - Gene Redd Jr) Same Person, Father / Son? Both Gene Redd Jr. and Sr. have long histories and both were record producers, Sr. was a producer at King for example, Jr. had a couple of labels (red bug, red coach, etc.), produced many records for other labels, and is most known for his work with Kool and the Gang on Delite. I think Sharon Redd is Gene's sister. Link to comment Social source share
