Along with Don Forbes and Dave Stubbs hosting, The Celtic Captain, Anglesey's very own dj of the high seas Steve Thomas, will be bringing his own brand of essential tuneage to Shropshire's capital.

And i'll be chipping jn a few worthwhile additions to the collection myself.

Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and make it as special Bank Holiday out, by the River Severn.

Completely FREE admission for this so, the more that turn up, the merrier it gets!😉👍🎵💃🕺🎶⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The man who puts together soul events in Shrewsbury and Shropshire, from time to time, and a veteran of the scene, DON FORBES. very knowledgeable and intuitive, always looking to invite guests with collections and not necessarily current djs...which has to be a good format. Definitely should be in for an interesting afternoon/evening of quality soul from the dead good rare to plainly obvious classics brilliance...bit of a melting pot of all thats soulful!.😉👍

If you're planning to attend and coming in via car: parking at Abbey Foregate ( bottom end of town by Asda ) is FREE on Monday. A large car park, about 10-12 min walk to venue.

St Julian's & Friars ( just off town walls by BT building ) is 60p an hour but there is also a max charge for all day.

Kingsland Bridge ( adjacent to Town Walls ) has limited parking £5 for all day.

Baker Street car park is next door to venue. Quite pricey at £2:80 an hour!, not sure if there's an all day charge allowed on there.

There's also an NCP at the rear of Premier Inn on Riverside, 5 mins from venue.

Just a heads up as we approach the weekend. It being the first Bank Holiday of 2025, and the longest ( 4 days ) and probably most popular, Shrewsbury is very much a destination town, full of history, lots going on and extremely busy with tourists and traffic.

Anyone looking for accommodation, i've already listed the best, occasioning the fact they have parking facilities, mostly in with the cost of rooms.

Listed here are their geographical positions in relation to the town, 3 are within walking distance, the others between 10 and 15 mins from town centre.

For that purpose ive also provided here the main municipal car parks, again short walking distances from the venue.

ABBEY FOREGATE IS FREE ON BANK HOLIDAYS

ST JULIAN'S & FRIARS: HALF PRICE ( 60p per hour )

FRANKWELL & RAVEN MEADOW may differ, also there may be a max all day payment but, theyre large car parks so there should be plenty of space....as always, best to arrive EARLY, as the function begins at 13:00pm!😉👍

A wonderful afternoon and evening of music for the crowd who attended, could've been better in that respect but then folks do still work, even pensioners!, nevertheless a big THANKYOU to all who came along and took in a fabulous selection of music from 10 purveyors of quality tunes, a good sprinkling on the rare stuff amongst the sets and lots new to the ear as well..a big UP👍 To Don Forbes and Dave Stubbs for getting the event on and slme decent sound equipment to boot!, and the obligatory informative right here to try and entice people out, as always.

Shrewsbury has a pretty long and feserved reputation for soul events in the country, as does Shropshire on the whole and has had a fair shared of outstanding venues over the decades..the message and emphasis on that is still very important even now.

A Big thanks to ALL the lads who deejayed listed above, and  special thanks to Steve Thomas and Lydia for making a pretty arduous trip from Anglesey amongst all the returning holiday makers and their caravans, to get to the Claremont, get settled and then the man delivers an outstanding set in his inimitable fashion...brilliant!.

Hopefully this occasional gig will have another date coming up soon, definitely entertaining and worth paying a visit here for that fact alone.😉👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
