I know but I let him have it on the condition I got first refusal if he ever let it go. He'd sold it within a week. I should have known better. 😭

I can still hear Mickey Cruise's voice "You stupid stupid boy"😜

I own it now , have done for a few years ian offered it me at that time  but I knew what he paid for it so I left it thinking I’ll get it in a week or two , then George turns up with it ffs 🤦‍♂️ I ended up buying it from George for twice the price originally offered , you win some you lose some as the saying goes

Rob Haigh Middleton via Telford

Rob joined the Lowton ‘Party’ later than some but more that made up for it by embracing the Lowton vibe readily and wholeheartedly. A regular at venues across the Midlands, such as Bretby and the Lea Manor, Rob honed his love of 60’s rare soul and today collects and DJ’s with an eye (and ear) on the more ‘underplayed’ sounds our scene has to offer. So as you can see from his current playlist there are some wonderful selections coming your way from Rob on Saturday…

Rob’s Lowton Favourites:

Delegates Of Soul - I'll Come Running Back - Phil-La

The Magnetics - Count The Days - Sable

Betty Wilson - I'm Yours - Tyco

Edith Brown - You Did It - 4 Brothers

The Tempests - Someday - Mercury Lp Track

Rob's Current Plays:

Johnny Clyde Copeland - Coming To See About You - Jetstream

Gladys Tyler With Ray Scott & The Scottsmen - A Little Bitty Girl ( With A Great Big Mountain Of Pride ) - Decca

Barbara Banks - Ain't I Worth A Dime - Smash

Kell Osborne - Small Things - New Bag

Gladys - Can't Get You Outta My Mind - O-Gee

Les Harrison Cleethorpes via Horwich (or is it the other way round 😉 )

Les has been DJing around the North-West for some years now, including residencies at LOWTON in the later years of the original venue and more recently at CULCHETH. He and Sue are regulars at soul nights and events, so Les has a real ‘feel’ for the sounds ‘doin’ the business’ on venue dancefloors…Here’s some of his LOWTON memories and current spins

5 Past Lowton Faves
Mel Britt She’ll Come Running Back
Parliaments  Don’t Be Sore At Me
Exsaveyons  I Don’t Love You No More
Johnny Sayles  I Can’t Get Enough
Curly Moore  You Don’t Mean

Current Spins
The Matadors  Say Yes Baby
Rudy Love Suffering Wrath
Charles Spurling  She Cried Just A Minute
Gambrels  Jive Talk
Danny Moore   Somebody New

Yes Mick it'll be a great opportunity to relive some of the Kenwood Suite memories and I'm certain all the DJs will deliver with the same ethos ..can't wait...rare but not for the sake of it and underplayed but not because they aren't quality tunes...job done 👍

Yeah - Bob absolutely! Sweep It Out has dominated as the preferred side of many a DJ but Challenge My Love is total CLASS

Wonderful tunes...as is her other Topper release. I was fortunate to purchase this many years ago from Glen Brierley, at Prestwich. Little Ann cut it as well but, this is the best version.

Coming over tomorrow see its 100 parking spaces. What is the street parking like in the area?

Here's a map of the area - The Village Club is marked, plenty of parking available but if it's maxed out the best options are off the main road B5207 there's some parking near the green (see red arrow) and it's probably a 5min walk back to the club.

I'm not sure Wigshaw Lane itself is a good place to park - it may even be restricted.

Hope that helps.
