However - I'm reliably informed by Dave Holt that Bob is indeed correct in the fact that Chris King played it first at one of the NYE nights either '98 or '99. Lowton released a Anniversary CD with the instrumental credited to the Bob Hinsley Strings Edited Friday at 15:16 by Eddiefoster 1

Popular Comment Bazm 1,115 Posted Saturday at 15:32 Popular Comment A solid selection of DJ's, many with long histories with LOWTON CIVIC HALL now booked and looking forward to, what is shaping up to be a very special night early in the 2025 Soul calendar... Looking back but also looking forward with some of today's popular DJ's on the scene, a prime example being Natalie Nichols and Alan Jenkins, bringing the enthusiasm found at the Midlands/Wolverhampton Friday night venue, 'Woolfies' to Culcheth on the 1st Feb 3 1

Bazm 1,115 Posted Sunday at 15:49 (edited) LOWTON had one of the most popular Modern Rooms in the country and Modern has its place with the monthly Modern Room at CULCHETH. That continues with Modern Soul, All Day in Room 2, with the ‘Do with a Do’ as it’s become known. Starting with Pete Ratcliffe and his ‘Review of 2024’, showcasing vinyl releases from last year. After that, the groove continues right through to 1am in Sunday morning and including a special session on Saturday afternoon featuring ‘Modern Soul Memories’ from the dancefloors early Modern Soul scene, watch this space… Edited Tuesday at 20:26 by Bazm 3

Agentsmith 1,020 Posted Sunday at 21:54 (edited) A function wouldn't be a function without Classic and Quality oldies...there a myriad of instances where great tunes aren't getting prominence...or perhaps that's for the good?, stay fresh, still have resonance with folk...the ' i haven't heard that for a good while ' incidence... Sure it would be greatly appreciated if mine modern room hosts would put together a modern montage for on here?....So Soulful 70's thru the now sound, an eclectic selection of past and present....c'mon team...lets have a room 3 deposition! Can't wait Kev - I literally was reminded that next year is the 30th Anniversary - wowser!!!!! I shared this earlier with Kev Murph and thought it would be a great memory for this event thread too - I think this was his first appearance as a DJ at Lowton? A piece of history either way Kev and Dave = Kev Murph & Dave Holt, also what a line up for that night eh! (BTW) I love the footnote - limited to 550, says it all doesn't it) Edited Monday at 14:11 by Eddiefoster 2

Girlie tunes on the way !!!! That might be a novel idea, a full set of female singers only
Agentsmith 1,020 Posted Monday at 14:49 AND....For good measure, as a modern room is of the most essential, a selection of classics, across the board....and remember all bases are covered from the 70's through to state-of-the-art new releases, currently pounding the dancefloors!
