Light of The World are headlining The Terrace Soul Weekender on Saturday 23 November Swindon Wiltshire
Formed in London in 1978, Light of the World were pioneers of The UK Brit Funk scene. The Band had a huge dancefloor hits with Swingin, Midnight Groovin, and London Town. Light of the World had the distinction of having Jean Paul 'Bluey' Maunick as a band member who went on to lead '90s funk-jazz band Incognito Originally a forerunner of the late 1970s/early 1980s British jazz-funk movement, the band's name is taken from the 1974 Kool and the Gang album, Light of Worlds. Also known for Pete's Crusade, I shot The Sheriff, I'm so Happy.
They recorded iconic albums Famous Faces and Round Trip with Gee Bello and Nat Augustin before releasing No 1 Girl. In 1999 Light of the World recorded an album Inner Voices and 20 years later, Light Of The World featuring Gee Bello, Nat Augustin and Mel Gaynor released an EP in August 2020 called Temperatures Rising which reached Number 1 on Amazon Hot Releases in R&B digital chart. They also announced the first new album from the band in twenty years entitled Jazz Funk Power.
