Lea Hall Miners Club, Rugeley, Stafford 

Following the huge success of our inaugural All-Nighters here earlier this year, when we achieved capacity attendance despite heavy scene competition and other distractions, we proudly present our  THIRD FULL 10 HOUR ALLNIGHTER

The first event was off the scale brilliant and I've yet to hear anything but gushing praise for it. The biggest and best All-Nighter held in the West Midlands for many years, with nearly 500 in attendance at the inaugural All-Nighter

    Having attended the first event earlier this year then the thought of attending this offering was holding great anticipation for me

    The evening started off well despite the floor not having any give, then those attending with great expectation were subject to 2 hours of modern/crossover music. The majority of those attending were stuck to their seats as they didn't know the majority of the tunes being played during these 2 hours.

    The mood changed when the mighty Ted took to the decks and then the event got back on to the main line and the remainder of the event was kept on the right track

    Response from the promoter:

    Hi, 

    Of course I heard all the music, being required to be there from start to finish. 

    The first two DJs (8-10) played solid Classic/Sixties Northern Soul, followed by a DJ (10-11) who played a mixture, but mostly well-known stuff. That was followed by a married DJ couple who again played a mixture including some obscure stuff. 

    The Top Guest followed at Midnight with a more serious set, but again nearly all 60s stuff - many well-known on the All-Nighter circuit. 

    Ted followed at 1am, with better known rarities and big tunes. 

    Many of the hardcore all-nighter crowd have been on the scene for 30/40 years or longer and are quite familiar with many of  these rare records. 

    All-Nighters are generally a different beast to Soul Nights, and feature a more serious music policy with a bigger proportion of rare and obscure records. There is usually also a good smattering of quality oldies and a large dollop of big, rare sounds. On Saturday, from start to finish, I would say at least half were well-known to everyone who's been on the scene a number of years. 

    I doubt I heard more than 6 or 7 Modern or Crossover records in the first 5 hours, so I assume many 60s rarities are being wrongly described. However I'll get the DJs in question to publish or send me their playlists.

    Another good night and very respectable turnout in the face of considerable opposition from local Soulnights and Popular Weekenders. 

    As one would expect for a hardcore all-nighter the music was of a more 'serious' nature with quality being the common denominator. 

    There was still a good smattering of quality oldies; more than enough to keep everyone happy. 

    The sound system was clear and loud, and the dancefloor in good form 👌

    A big thank you to the DJs and Dancers for making it another memorable night. 

    Bring on Part 3. 😊

    Third installment of this event and I had a great night. This venue really does deserve to be back as a nighter, large dance floor, clean ample seating and parking, in terms of balloons it's one of the best.

    Musically early doors delivered quality classics and some interesting selections but it was when col and Gaye kidson stepped up to the decks that the night stepped up a gear, for me. Gaye and Col knew what to do, to generate excitement of the floor without resorting to the obvious, playing some of the biggest nighter sounds mixed with a selection of tunes the lead the way to the future of the scene. Ted was up next and simply proved why he is considered one of the he best ln the game at the moment, filling the floor from start to finish of his set. 

    Tony Smith's contribution to the scene is legend in collector's circles and he certainly didn't disappoint with a selection of quality rare soul seldomly heard outside the smoke. Next we had, prince of the Black country, John Weston, John gets everywhere, plays his thing and we love him for it! Hard act to follow but luci Jones has become such a professional she followed John with a set of high energy rhythm, soul and flow that kept me bopping. Proceedings brought to a close by stalwarts Rob Smith and pep. Thanks for getting in all three of our requests Rob. 😄
