The Harrogate Cheltenham Club was the Town's original Mod and Soul Club and ran from 1967 until 1969.
This is an annual charity event to commemorate the original venue and to play the all the tunes once played at the club.
Club soul, Motown, Stax, 60's R&B plus a few Mod tunes - all played on the original vinyl (US and UK) releases by one of the original Cheltenham spinners Michael Lowcock and Harrogate Northern Soul Club's Ian Smith. All music will be pre 1970 and will have to have been available to buy in the UK at that time. The emphasis is on floor filling, dancing tunes
The original venue was in Harrogate town centre on Cheltenham Crescent. This event started back in 2018 and takes place at the home of Ripley Blues/ Live - a club where late 60's soul and Mod heroes Steve Cropper and Georgie Fame both have performed. The dancefloor is hard wood and mainatined to a high standard. Regular buses run to both Harrogate and Ripon until late if you don't want to drive.
All proceeds, after deducting the concessionary hll hire fee, will go to Parkinsons UK.
It's a great night and the event usually sells out so that advance booking is advised.
Places can be purchased and reserved from the Ripley live web site - £8 in advance, including booking fee, and £10 OTD if any places are left.
