I have a feeling I only went to Grumpys a couple of times and Andy was on both times, I agree with what's already been said, both of his sets were absolutely brilliant, musically top notch, I mean there's not many can play both sides of John & the Weirdest one after the other without any break. Well If you've got'm, why not flaunt'm.

This is going to be a cracker (Easter egg pun intended). Been talking to Andy and he's promising the full gambit - unissued, rarely heard, mega favourites, and never heard before first time plays - we can't wait!

Keith will of course be working his usual dance floor magic, with Phil and I hopefully aiding and abetting.

Also realised it will be 31 years to the day that we sadly lost Pete Lawson. I'm sure more than a few of his favourites will be played and stories told on the night in his memory x

Set to be an amazing gathering of like minded 'Souls' Joan, made more poignant by the anniversary of Pete's passing, a real character, much missed...

Looking forward to this, needless to say love the venue, great accoustics, right sized floor ( not a mass expanse ) adequate seating and a bunch of likeminded folk who know and love their music.....and dance to it as well!

Riminder to mine host ' Our Bazza ' the superb floor needs just a little extra bite...called a polish!😉👍

I wonder if Andy would consider selling me his spare copy of Shirley Edwards when he takes it off his wall.🤣😇

Not long to go until our second takeover at this awesome venue - the best we've had without doubt!

A very busy night on the soul calendar, but only one night has Andy Rix, Keith Whitson, and Phil Threlfall on 😉

Enjoy wherever you go, and looking forward to seeing all you Grumpy folk next week x

Pleased to confirm that as part of the GRUMPY SOUL TAKEOVER at CUCLCHETH on SATURDAY 30th MARCH the Modern Room will be running from 8pm through to 2am.

Special guest on the night will be DAB of SOUL DJ and promoter DAVE LUCAS. Dave is one of the mainstays of the North-West Modern Soul scene, with roots all the way from the 70’s through to collecting and playing brand new releases from the past five decades, as well as being one of the driving forces of the hugely successful DAB of SOUL Weekenders, Soul Nights and Radio Shows.

Dave is joined by CULCHETH residents, from CAN YOU DIG IT and the RUSTIC soul events DJ and promoter, NICK McKINNON, bringing his mix of everything from rare 70’s to quality 80’s soul dancers. PETE RATCLIFFE will be showcasing all the latest new ‘soul on vinyl’ releases early doors and that digging into the crates later, all supported by BAZ MALEEDY with Modern Soul selections on vinyl and CD from LOWTON, PRESTWICH, THE ORWELL and more

Join Us on Saturday 30th for a great Modern Soul night out…

Really gutted that I could'nt make  the first takeover, especially when I got the rave reviews from the Scottish troops. It will be a pleasure and a privilege to play some records to the Grumpy faithful and in the company of Joan, Phil & Andy Rix. Poignant too that it will be the anniversary of Pete Lawson's passing, I pullled a record off the shelves last week that still had his handwriting on the sleeve, so that will definitley be getting spun. Just make sure that the bar is well stocked, all that whistling is a thirsty business!! Look forward to seeing you all, it's been way too long
