Popular Comment Philt 1,572 Posted October 17 Popular Comment Looking forward to Ady joining Carl, Joan and I playing a few soul records. Be a really good night I reckon, as per. Great venue and sound system of course, courtesy of Baz Ps. Yes Pete, the dancing cat is still singing Dana songs and grooving away as disturbingly as ever. 3 1 Link to comment
Philt 1,572 Posted October 20 (edited) Couple of weeks to go. Proper, old style, no B/S night. Expect high quality soul records, a buzzing dance floor and great atmosphere from start to finish. We’ve always tried to book guests who have great records but aren’t on everywhere. Ady fits the bill perfectly Edited October 20 by Philt 3 Link to comment

Philt 1,572 Posted October 24 I'll take that with me Baz (never a hardship playing it to be honest LOL) It'll be the usual [Grumpy] script record-wise, i.e. the full shooting match: unissued acetates, 10-20 quidders, proper oldies, things you've maybe forgotten about, rarities that you're less likely to hear out very often and a smattering of high class crossover. Not an 'oldies' night, not an 'upfront' night, just a proper soul night. If it's good enough and danceable its in mate 2 Link to comment

Jumpinjoan 1,846 Posted October 25 There's such a buzz about the next installment and rightly so with the quality that will be delivered by the box load. As alluded to above there will be rarities a plenty, alongside quality from every price point, something for everyone for sure. To say Ady is looking forward to it is an understatement. He doesn't DJ anywhere outside of his hometown these days, and he's genuinely excited to dig deep and join us on Saturday, we're in for a real treat. Add Messrs Fortnum and Threlfall into the mix, what's not to love. In a nutshell then, expect the finest tunage, blasting out of an exceptional sound system, in a class venue, packed to the rafters with the best soul folk, and a dancing cat. Phwoarrrr, see you in a week! 2 Link to comment

Eddiefoster 2,859 Posted October 26 What can one say ..... the best of the best, Grumpy Soul and Culcheth compliment each other perfectly! Grumpy has been so missed as a regular event and the takeovers at Culcheth are a great feature....a line up to die for! Personally I'm very much looking forward to the return of Mr Fortnum alongside great expectations from a well respected collector in Ady Potts...do yourself a favour and make the effort you won't be disappointed 2 1 Link to comment

He managed to put the full set of pink Teri de's together many years ago. I think that's one of the reasons that I got inspired to go over to the west coast in the first place, in search of Teri de records lol By absolute chance I managed to put a full set together as well. But here's a photo of the two Jimmy Greshams... Edited Monday at 08:14 by Ady Potts 2 Link to comment
Philt 1,572 Posted Monday at 08:35 (edited) I suspected you might have it too Ady. Really looking forward to seeing you and hearing your records mate. Two Jimmy Gresham's (not to mention anything and everything else on Teri De) floating around then. It'll be rubbish Edited Monday at 08:38 by Philt 3 Link to comment

It'll be lovely to be with other like-minded collectors. The pink/flesh colour Teri De label is incredible when you think about it because every record is a dancer, and some of them being double siders. So it's a good little label to collect. 3 Link to comment
