About The Event

The Ashton Ukrainian club has gone from strength to strength following the re-launch in 2021 and a move to Saturday night. For 2024 we're looking to continue delivery quality rare and underplayed soul from the residents and ever growing list of outstanding guests.

Speaking of ‘Rare & Underplayed Soul’ we use that phrase to capture what Ashton tries to deliver musically, which is worth expanding upon.

Mainly it's an attempt to move away from the standard music policy strap lines we’re all so used to seeing like; Northern, 60s & 70s, Crossover, Modern, across the board etc. etc. whilst genuinely trying to capture an ethos. The words ‘rare’ and ‘underplayed’ are intended to apply both in their own right and together, it certainly isn't supposed to be limited rare records that are also underplayed……we should have added quality in there too LOL.

In a nutshell you will hear all three combinations of the phrase on any given night at the Ukrainian Club; ‘Rare’ (but not for rarities sake) ‘Underplayed’ (but not because they’re not good enough) and of course ‘Rare & Underplayed’ but, all with one eye on the dancefloor.

We don’t have a music ‘policy’, all our residents & guests are free to express themselves as they wish, which we believe adds to the magic. So simply expect a great night of quality soul music if you ever get the chance to join us at our friendly little club.

Just over a week to go to the next Ashton Ukrainian Club!! Unreal feedback and enquiries for what's sure to be another packer!!

We can't thank the Loyal Ashton Brethren, who never miss a beat!!

We have another star studded DJ line up for you all !! Please arrive early, as we are also finalising the finer details for May, no let up in pace!!

Lots of people eagerly anticipating the debut set for Tim Ashibende, gonna be a cracker!!! I reckon John Weston will be carrying on the 60th birthday celebrations behind the decks and on the dancefloor(could get messy) Not forgetting "Dark Horses" regular Les Norman, check out the link below for a snapshot of some monster spins awaiting us!!

Gamekeeper Jones is chomping at the bit for his debut DJ set, a proper cross section of rare soul vinyl is on the cards, for sure. As we say every month PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY to avoid disappointment!!

Phil Dunn will be providing the sound track of quality forgotten gems and a few left field items for the early arrivals and Ashton Supremo Chris Churm and his now legendary "last hour" gems completes a real strong line up!!

Admission a mere £5 for five and a half hours of unbeatable atmosphere drenched soul music, as our resident personal trainer Stu(Bez) Cheetham always says, you just gotta dance!!

Please check out the lounge area to maybe purchase that elusive 45 and catch up with friends old and new.

Saturday April 20th running 7pm-00.30

See you there!!

Yeah kind of sums up what we're about at Ashton, playing the music that makes you wanna dance, not put you in a trance. Avalanche of support for this event looking like John Weston BIG birthday celebrations will continue at the Ukrainian Club, don't miss it !!!

Yes the very same Neil Jones on the Tony's doc and a very funny guy.

Here's one of his quips.  A fellow DJ commented he'd got a couple of new things for Saturday and Neil asked him "What a new pair of shoes"  🤣😂

Well it made me laugh.

If you think that's funny, you should see his shirt(s).

Yes Soulie was a brilliant dancer, he also had the biggest DJ box ever. It must have held 1,000 records. It was the same size as a wardrobe🤣😜

I'm sure he had a change of clothes in there as well.😃

I'll try and find that documentary it sounds interesting.
