Geeselad 2,148 Posted June 26 Just over a week away from our first anniversary event. Expect a mixture of underplayed northern, R and B, funky soul, garage and who knows.... The whole point of the event is to bring folk together, hence the name, Gathering. Different people djs and scenes together under one roof. Many come to hear something genuinely different and we encourage djs to play the what they want. The dancefloor and atmosphere determine what goes down. That doesn't mean you won't hear classics or great northern. Come and see for the sen's! 1
Geeselad 2,148 Posted June 29 A little information on our guest DJs; Rob Powner- (aka twangy) Rob has always been I DJ I look up to, literally! Lanky git. It's fair to say Rob has garnered a massive reputation over the last 20 years as one of the finest mod dj's not only in the UK but also in Europe. DJing extensively at a rare of weekender event on the continent and in the UK, including promoting his own events, wang dang doodle and his most excellent Sunday sermon. Your going to hear some top class tunes your ears have never been near. 1
Geeselad 2,148 Posted June 29 (edited) Nige brown- Nige is a Northern DJ of some repute, a Stalwart of some of the biggest allnighters of the past 20 years, nige has plenty of big hitters at his disposal but as an avid collector I'm sure he'll provide something different and fresh. Geeselad 2,148 Posted June 30 Gaye kidson Gaye has been a mainstay of the west midlands rare soul scene for many years and played nationally as a guest at many events. Also a resident at the most wonderful dark horses nighter in Tamworth she has been a trailblazer showing the girls can do what the guys do, but better!
Geeselad 2,148 Posted July 1 Steve Cato; Steve's nights in Manchester ' nothing but soul' and 'different strokes' for me and many others introduced a new world of music people and possibilities. Since then he's gone on to be heavily involved in the much loved Manchester international soul weekender. He's a one off, and sadly don't play out enough anymore, but you can here him in a certain dark basement this weekend. 1
Geeselad 2,148 Posted July 2 And finally Dean Read; Dean was one of our first choices when we set up the night, playing at our first event almost 12 months ago. Dean's played just about everywhere on the upfront circuit over the years as well as being involved in the sadly missed go go children all-nighter in Bristol. Expect quality rhythm, soul and funk from a guy who always has something decidily original to play. 1
Geeselad 2,148 Posted July 5 Last call for tomorrow. Some people are really passionate about this tits night, we do just three a year. Come listen and dance from 9pm.
