DO Come knockin’, cause the place is ROCKIN’… That’s the message going out to all ‘Soulies’ one and all for the next soul night at CULCHETH on SATURDAY OCTOBER 1st. Yes, Autumn is here, the nights are drawing in and the music and atmosphere at CULCHETH is HOTTING UP!

Our special guest on the 1st October is none other than Wales’s favourite son STEVE THOMAS! Steve has been around long enough to know a great tune or two, and we’re sure there’ll be quite a few of those in his playbox.

Add to that, support from our resident team this time made up of KEV MURPHY, JORDAN WILSON, SIMON INGHAM and the returning LES HARRISON and BOB HINSLEY and you have a great Northern night; GUARANTEED!

Step across the foyer into the MODERN ROOM with residents BAZ MALEEDY, BILL WILDMAN, new release supremo PETE RATCLIFFE and special guests, the omnipresent, CHRIS BOX and 70’s rarities man, CHARLIE SMITH and you have another TOP NIGHT in the making.

So, Join Us On SATURDAY 1st OCTOBER and come and see why CULCHETH is a MUST for your monthly soul night out!

What's not to like! - going from strength to strength and deservedly so IMHO, looking forwards to seeing Mr Thomas, here's one I first heard him play back in the 90s....not sure if he was the first but it always reminds me of him 🎶

I've just about recovered from my thoroughly enjoyable (in a masochistic sort of way) 60 minutes playing all things modern/TSOP in the modern room last month to stormers like this one from the Jades this time. Not for the faint hearted this one.

This one from Danny Denver reminds me of the brilliant Johnny Clyde Copeland on Suave, maybe not as good but not many are to be honest.

Rob Thomas told me at Culcheth a couple of months ago that this should have come out on Shrine but money or some deal or other was owed to Jet Set Records so Eddie Singleton let them have this recording. As per usual when I'm out, it goes in one ear & out the other, but that bit stuck in there.

Joe Douglas Something to brag about great double sider.

Robbo sometimes plays the flipside Crazy things which I prefer actually, I think it suits his vocal better but what do I know.

PS I'm sending out a search party for Simon AKA Eddie Foster.

I told Moe I wanted Something to brag about and before I could say by Joe Douglas she said and so did I but I ended up with you,  the cheeky b*st*rd.

I'm here all week.

He's otherwise occupied today on two wheels round a track, normal service will be resumed real soon!!

You say normal service will be resumed he goes around with Darren & Robbo lol

Wowser, Culcheth seems to have come around so quickly - the night has been building and building in the last few months (deservedly) so expect another busy one on Saturday! Nice to see Steve Thomas guesting in the main room and Chris Box no doubt delivering the goods in the modern room alongside dark horse Charlie Smith.....

All in all not to be missed - see you all there

Deffo THE place to be, on the first saturday in the month. Usually a strong contingent in anyway from North Wales. The arrival of Steve Thomas behind the decks will only increase the amount of travellers making the journey down the M56, looks like a busy one, get there early folks!!

Just a shout to all the 'Modernistas'

Looking forward to the ‘Do within a Do’, the Modern Room at Culcheth! Top quality 70’s through to brand new releases, all mixed with love. Join us early doors and hear all the latest new vinyl 45’s courtesy of Pete Ratcliffe, check out late 70’s and 80’s real soul, dance tracks from the Cassinellis and Newton Cricket Club era with Bill Wildman, all sounding sooo, sooo good. Then here comes our special guests, ‘Mr Modern’ Chris Box, doin’ what he does best, aiming solely at the dancefloor with your current Modern Soul winners, then BOOM! Welcome Charlie Smith to the decks, with an unrivalled selection of rare and obscure, 70’s dancefloor fillers…Amazing! It just leaves Baz Maleedy to finish off the night sending everyone home happy at 1am.

Join us THIS SATURDAY for a GREAT MODERN SOUL NIGHT OUT!

Jordan, will Shirley J Scott get an outing.

It sounded great the first time I heard it from behind the speakers, I need a second hearing from the front this time.

Yes! Defo going to spin that, along with the unissued Tommy Rodgers track I've been trying to give some airtime too. :)

I can't say I've heard the Tommy Rodgers track.

So that's another good reason to go to Culcheth this Saturday.

Bill Wildman posted this track from the Isley Brothers on facebook as a possible play in the modern room this Saturday and I have to say even though it made no 11 in the US R&B chart in 1980 It's certainly one that passed me by. WOW. perfect Isleys.
