Saturday SETPTEMBER 3rd sees another night of TOP QUALITY SOUL in TWO ROOMS, as we bring TWO VERY SPECIAL GUESTS to CULCHETH!

The first time since lockdown, we are pleased to welcome back to CULCHETH, possibly the scene’s busiest DJ GINGER TAYLOR and his box of MONSTER SOUNDS!!!

Not only that but we are equally delighted to announce that BOB HINSLEY will be making his return to the MODERN ROOMS, his first MODERN set, since the fantastic and much missed, TSOP PRESTWICH soul nights.

GINGER and BOB are joined by main room residents LOWTON CIVIC main man KEV MURPHY, Young Gun, JORDAN WILSON, Manchester’s MICK HOWARD and fresh from Ashton Ukrainian Club, SIMON INGHAM. The Modern Room crowd, in addition to BOB HINSLEY, will be entertained by Cassinellis and Newton Cricket Club DJ, Bill Wildman, Lowton and Orwell spinner, Baz Maleedy and ‘So Soulful 70’s’ main man Steve Plumb.

So, join us on SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 3rd for a GUARANTEED Great Night Out!

I'm just going through some of the CD Albums that came out during the TSOP Prestwich era and trying to re-acquaint myself with some of those brilliant tracks that we played there. I didn't realise at the time how many.

As I go through them I'll post some of them on here.   Before I start upsetting anyone I'm not saying that any of these tracks were only played at Prestwich, nor am I saying that they haven't been played anywhere since in fact most are modern soul anthems and rightly so. Quality all the way.

First album I dusted off was this one from Tommy Sims Track 4 When you go. modern soul perfection.

I hope Man U can get off the foot of the table before Ginger comes on Sept 3rd or I might have to play "It's an uphill climb to/from the bottom"

This 12" from Kareem wasn't one of the many new releases played at TSOP but it certainly was appreciated by both collectors and dancers alike.

Samples Ron Matlock's "I can't forget about you" perfectly.""

Baz, If you're thinking I'm pretty sure I have that Nicci Gilbert cd album,   well yes you did but now I have it lol.

If you remember at Prestwich July 2003 it was my 50th and you very generously gave me your advance promo copy

It was near impossible to find at the time Dj's wanted it for the gorgeous "I Can't forget" track so here it is and a cert for the next Culcheth

I think you had a spare copy, Nice one Baz (two sheds).

Spoken to Ginger and it looks like some of his rare and underplayed tunes will be coming out for CULCHETH, so as well as some MONSTER oldies, expect the unexpected with some real treats in store 👍

The Unified Tribe "If we were invaded" was always a popular request at TSOP especially from Gill H, quality all the way Saturday 3rd Sept Culcheth

Perfect for the main room, criminally underplayed oldie with a non too shabby flip "I ain't playing baby", which I think was the original more preferred side

I always loved spinning this at Prestwich, proper tune with a capital T,  Blacknuss"Tonight's the night"

How could I forget to mention the insane horn duel goin' on midway through. just brilliant on here. massive on Baz's sound system.

This got played occasionally around the Midlands early 90's, never really took off, I have two copies just in case I want to play the other side 🤪

Martyn I know it's a bugger that having to take the record off the turntable before you can play the flipside. In the old days I'd have a fag in one hand and a pint in the other, how are you suppose to start flipping the records over as well. Ah a Juke box that's what you need.

Maybe time to give this underplayed gem another outing
