Russ Winstanleys Wigan Casino Roadshow

Northern Soul supremo Russ Winstanley is heading back to Kanteena, and this time he's bringing the roadshow.

Russ and his right hand man Alan King will be on hand to take the party later into the night, playing all the favourite spins and requests from way back, and filling out our bank holiday all dayer will be some of our favourite local jocks.

After his first appearance here during This Soul Town back in April, we've been excited to be welcoming Russ Winstanley back, who is obviously best known for his championing of Northern Soul music at the Wigan Casino. Fun fact, the last record ever played at the Wigan Casino all nighters – chosen entirely at random by Russ – was Frank Wilson's Do I Love You (Indeed I Do). Since Wigan Casino's closure in 1981, Winstanley has still been active, both on the Northern Soul circuit and in radio. He has hosted his own show on BBC GMR and XFM in Manchester, and has had a regular northern soul show on BBC Radio Lancashire.

Alan King will keep you on your feet whilst he delves deep into his collection of rare records, filling the floor with non-stop Northern Soul sounds.
