Arthur Conley got dance floor appreciation from a number of dancers last night Andy. The artist and sounds that were there when that music was being played still resonates for many of us. By choosing to play that request you chose not only to respect the guy who requested it but also everyone who was around  when the scene was created and still show appreciation on the dance floor. If the record is in your box and someone requests it then, providing the record fits in with what tunes your playing when the request is made, which in this case it did, then there isn't any reason not to play it.

No need to make excuses because one supporter disliked your choice of record. It's not possible to please everyone so don't bother trying.

Your floor, in my opinion, doesn't need talc. We danced throughout the night and didn't need talc. At this time of year, muggy atmosphere, it is not unusual for floors to become a little sticky.

We enjoyed the night. 2hr 20 min drive both ways was worth the effort. I thank you again for allowing me the freedom to play my choices for which I was more than happy with words of appreciation and dance floor support.

Thanks for your gesture Andy. I only put up n honest reveiw. I'm not one to argue as I know it's not easy to please everyone all the time. The barstaff where quite rude to my partner and don't appreciate being spoken to as a child. Apologies to the guy who asked for Arthur Conley but for a fiver door tax personally I want a few records which I ain't heard for a while. All the best in the future to you and you clientele.

Hi Steve

Sorry to hear you were unsatisfied with the evening and the music policy and they didn't live up to your expectations. I understand you would like to hear some underplayed and rarer tunes but unfortunately that empties the dance floor. We only want people to come and have a good night out, which you can on our dance floor as it's the best in the area and does not need talc. We endeavour to play what people ask for and not slip into the jaunre and snobbery that surround some Northern Soul DJs

Hi Dave

Surely if you pay a fiver to listen to some Northern Soul you expect to hear some rare or underplayed sounds. It's what Northern is about, fresh new songs to keep the scene moving forward. I could have stopped at home and listen to rarer songs. It's not about keeping the dance floor full It's about new music, underplayed 45s and enjoying the different genres on the scene like popcorn, RnB, crossover and newies. I know the tip 500 are popular at some venues and probably Newstead is one of these. I apologise if I have upset anyone. Steve

Hi Steve

Thanks for your comments, but we often play R&B and popcorn. The night seemed to be right to choose the spins we played, sorry if it didn't live up to your expectations.

Dave,

Have a great time, if you at a loose end one Saturday night try to get to Something different soul club at Shirebrook. I promise you this is how it should be. Take care Steve.
