Jessie Pinkman 794 July 4, 2022 6 of 6 members say helpful 6 / 6 members For me the best Culcheth yet. It will be hard to top. Musically the Dj line up worked well, the dancefloor was busy all night.Great set by Simon kicking off with my request for Vigon a first time play at Culcheth and him being delighted how well it went down with the dancers, Mick followed Carl & Maria with tune after tune aimed fairly and squarely at the dancefloor, and Kev finishing the evening off with some of his classic mega rarity's. Carl & Maria was the icing on top of the cake.their music was top notch,I hope you can get them back on some time soon, the decks worked better dancefloor level, I felt more involved, the sound sounded great, there was no excuse to have the volume too loud, you couldn't have put us any closer to the speakers,I loved it in fact I'm still buzzing. The banner looked great as well. Congratulations all round for a belter of a night. I caught some of Ged Lunts set in the modern room and his taste is right up my street. perfect modern soul. This is the first time I've felt the need to leave a review but the night was that good. 5
Hutchy 576 July 3, 2022 · Edited July 3, 2022 by Soulfulmerlin 5 of 5 members say helpful 5 / 5 members Firstly, upon entry it looked different. Huge banner on Stage took the place of the decks. Which had been placed on top right corner. It then made perfect sense after a mind blowing set by Simon Ingham. Carl and Maria Willingham came to the decks. Obviously Carl is in a Wheel Chair. So a humble move by Baz to accommodate. Listen the simple things are often the best. We were treated to some excellent music. so total respect all involved. Such a thoughtful move. Both rooms were packed. I sat with the Bolton crew. Davey Bates brought me a tea bag . No cake said as I have heart problems am not allowed any. Want proper cup of tea next time fella. Earl Grey sir Caught up with few my mates from Dundee who travelled. Many others and Dave Rimmer, talking about music policies at our respective Clubs. Well as with Culcheth it's on the money in my opinion. Mick Howard played a blinder, modern room not my thing but was heaving. Great night. Truly all things Soulful 10/10 Baz. 4

Car park almost full for doors opening and I must admit to doing a double take and making my way up to the stage Luckily Baz spotted and drew my attention to the new deck set up just below the stage. Sir Bob was entertaining the masses with as ever quality spins from the halcyon days right up to present and Yep Sharon Jones sounded the business jumping out of those speakers. Next up Simon Ingham with some monster big hitters Celebrities " I choose you" Earnestine Eady "let's talk it over" Quality R+B Thornton Sisters on Cuppy and how good does Lee Rogers sound!! Carl + Maria followed again some of the biggies that we have come to associate them with Admirations on peaches, Jackie Day "naughty boy" and the odd curve ball Jimmy Burns "I really love you" instrumental version. I had the unenviable task of following after an emotion dripped last record John + The Weirdest "can't get over these memories" Thanks to Dave Hutchy for the kind words the new deck position left it open for the deck peerers Phew think I was alright Kev Murphy rounded off a great night Lester Tipton and many more. Lots of smiling faces and a busy dancefloor through out The Modern Room was as ever super busy, what a great night, look forward to August!! 3

Sir Bob was his usual competent self - cool as a cucumber and right on the money, nothing new there - I followed and gotta say I'm not used to the earlier sets so that was a new challenge; no pressure following Bob and leading into the Willinghams set then eh! I've posted my playlist below for fun. Carl & Maria smashed it out of the park as expected leaving Mick Howard to deliver his usual polished performance (great job Mick) and at the top of the night Kev Murph himself kept things rolling right up until he was politely asked to play his last record by the obviously wilting staff LOL Great venue, great music, great folk - see you next time Simon Ingham 21:00 - 22:00 The Sparkles - Try Love Tommy Ridgley - My Love Gets Stronger The Celebrities - I Choose You Baby Irma and the Larks - Without You Baby The Gambrells - You Better Move The Paramount Four - You Don't Know The Thornton Sisters - I Keep Forgettin' Nat Hall - Why Carol Anderson - Taking My Mind Off Love The Venturas - Heart Of Love Curly Moore - You Don't Mean Ernestine Eady - Let's Talk It Over Timmie Williams - Competition Jerry Ganey - You Don't Love Me Lee Rogers - Go Go Girls Edwin Starr - I Just Wanted To Cry Billy Butler - Sweet Darling David Coleman - Drown My Heart Flash McKinley - I'll Rescue You Supremes & Four Tops - A Taste Of Honey True Image - Keeps Me Dancing (Alt.) 1
