About The Event

And so to the ‘Serious Business’ of following the great night we had celebrating what would have been the LOWTON 25th ANNIVERSARY at CULCHETH SPORTS CLUB. For those who couldn’t make it, it was as close as we could get to a lock-out, with both rooms bouncing from the get-go until 2am.

Great music in both the main room and the Modern Room, with all the DJ’s digging deep to entertain the expectant crowd, playing tunes from those great nights at  Lowton Civic Hall, alongside some of today’s floor fillers and a nice selection of underplayed selections thrown in for good measure.

SATURDAY MARCH 5th sees the return of the two room, RARE and MODERN SOUL NIGHTS at CULCHETH, now MONTHLY on the FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH for 2022. And to celebrate, we bring together the ‘Old Firm’ team of BOB HINSLEY and ROBBO. Going back to the mid 80’s BOB and ROBBO where setting the standards at venues like THE RITZ MANCHESTER, KEELE ALL-NIGHTERS, as well as BRETBY, WINSFORD, WILTON BALLROOM and of course BURY TOWN HALL, with a real love of the scene and music, their enthusiasm shines through, making their sets something to look forward to anytime they spin.

Joining BOB and ROBBO is one of the most popular DJ’s on the scene at the moment and CULCHETH resident JORDAN WILSON together with fellow residents North Manchester’s MICK HOWARD and South Manchester’s SIMON INGHAM, who between them have a fantastic selection of TOP QUALITY SOUL SOUNDS. Add to that, Warrington’s own KEV McCUE bringing his impeccable taste to the proceedings and you have the makings of a great night.

One of the best parts of the ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL was the MODERN ROOM, hot and sweaty, as peeps danced to a fantastic selection of MODERN SOUL tunes from four decades. BAZ MALEEDY is joined by So Soulful 70’s ‘Main Man’ STEVE PLUMB, as well as SPECIAL GUEST from North West Modern Soul nights at CASSINELLIS, NEWTON CRICKET CLUB and more recently VYBE, BILL WILDMAN digging in the crates to bring a TOP selection of 80’s dance floor favourites, add to that PETE RATCLIFFE’s new release showcase and you have an unrivalled MONTHLY MODERN ROOM… Back Together Again for 2022!

Any Marvin Gaye played in any Modern Room is always a treat to hear and this track "Heavy love affair" is no exception. Just absolutely brilliant.

I Know this one isn't to everybody's taste but I'm quite partial to a bit of classic Blue eyed Northern soul like this one.

Here's another classic of the Blue eyed variety this time in Robbo's box.

Just 5 days to go before the next instalment at Culcheth Sports Club,

J.B.Troy "Live On" is another that I'm sure isn't everybody's cup of tea, well I like mine strong with 2 sugars and this tastes fine to me.

I can't remember hearing this at any of the previous Culcheths but I could be wrong.

One for the main room methinks, Imagine the mayhem this would have caused on the dancefloor at Wigan had it been known.

The Moments "Nine times" then this one "Baby I want you"   obviously not straight after "Nine times",  build up to it then WOOOSH

Yes I think this was their first release
