By way, not only as an alternative to the main room, but as a 'destination' in its own right, there was always a second room at Lowton. In the early days, it started as an extension of the fledgling 'crossover' scene and featured more underplayed 45's, with long-time collector and DJ, Ian Cunliffe, Bill Harrison and fellow 'Orwellian' Ste Connor, starting the ball rolling. Over time and due to popular demand the back room developed into one of the best and busiest Modern rooms in the country.

Join us on Saturday 5th Feb and enjoy memories of the Lowton modern room and the best in Modern Soul sounds with Soul Sam, Steve Plumb and Baz M

Lowton Modern Room (Some Old 'Faces' on there 😉 ) and Culcheth Modern Room Pics

Not had chance to listen to this blasting out over a powerful system yet so Culcheth might be the place!

A legendary dj once called a taxi for Earnest Moseley over the mike when it cleared the dancefloor at Burnley many years ago. probably the only time that ever happened.

If I had to choose between the two,  well I was brought up on Mr Moseley but I can see why a young whipper snapper like Simon would choose the latter.

Yep I think it's the one you first hear that stays with you and in my humble opinion a better production 😉

I think you're right with "it's the one you hear first" Mick - I was lucky enough to be around a little later so both versions were well known by then
