Totally agree if it is advertised as 100mph all night then that's what it should be as people travel miles to what they think is going to be a good night and then are disappointed when it's not as advertised.

That's why we have changed I policy to 100% oldies night which gives more room to play some r&b ' 70s ' Motown & northern all uptempo

Thanks for the reply Shooter and being honest about the night.

I had heard plenty of people say The Grosvener Rooms play 100mph dance tunes all night, just what I was looking for, read the flyer on SS and couldn't wait for the 13th anniversary night (our first night at the Grosvener) well the rest is history.

we will give it another go soon I just hope it was a one off.

Gray, Gaz you have never advertised the Grovenor as 100 mph solid Oldies, its always been advertised as 100% solid Oldies, so I don't know why you are apologising to people, they are obviously not reading the flyers correctly, Knocker

Aye Aye Knocker, what's going on here mate?,people not reading the Flyers correctly !!!!!!.......

We are all Soulie's and friends together, lets keep it that way shall we.

Soulnut is a mate of mine.

Just done some research on the issue concerned and found the following HISTORY for all to see on Soulsource :

--- Saturday 18th September 2021     MAIN BALLROOM          "100mph Solid Oldies All Night Long"

--- Saturday 16th October 2021         MAIN BALLROOM           "100mph Solid Oldies All Night Long"

--- Saturday 21st July 2018                 MAIN BALLROOM           "100mph Solid Oldies All Night Long"  with a review  "Hot and Sweaty 100mph"

Obviously the facts are there for everyone to see, before you insult our intelligence check the history on venue

postings before putting pen to paper,it appears one of us can't read English correctly mate !!!!!!........

Hmmm well,

I have Been going to the Grov  since 2012 and whenever I am "up north" it is the oldies venue of my choice so can give a pretty straight no politics opinion.

In the most part and for all my trips it has been up tempo classic oldies more or less all night and by that I mean old school classics mixed in with current in vogue fav`s, early doors and last 20 mins may be a little slower but in general 100mph is the norm. The resident  DJ`s stick to this every time, the only times I have noticed a different  vibe is on maybe 3/4 trips out of probably 50+ when the guest DJ`s have filled their spots with a mass of mid/late 70`s early 80`s for want of a better word Tosh, that really is not my bag (yes yes I know some do like that era) but not me for me thanks. So yes I was a bit dissapointed  to say the least and perhaps a bit of an oversight by the promoters not to step in and give em a friendly nudge back to the expected schedule? Maybe that was the root of the problem on this night?  all in all the Grov remains imo one of the best old school oldies and classic`s clubs around.

I've sorted out a box of classic 100mph Oldies to play tonight.  Can't wait.  Thank you for inviting me to guest DJ for the first time at the Grosvenor rooms. ♥️👊

What a night it's going to be..

I went to Grosvenor rooms last night and it was 100mph Oldies all night until the last hour, it was awful! I have been to Grosvenor Rooms two times previously and the music was more mixed, something for everyone and I really enjoyed it. I cant understand why all the music needs to be 100mph all night, lets face it, you cant dance for 5 hours at 100mph can you???? So, I think that for the future the promotors really do need to decide if it 100mph or 100% Oldies (with varied tempos), get the flyer correct and then do what it says on the can. If it is 100mph then so be it, I will stay away. I really did not enjoy last night, it was the worst Northern night I have ever been to. I am very apprehensive about ever going again. Why do you need to cater for one type of dancer/listener?? There are so many beautiful and soulful records out there, why not play something for everyone??

You clearly can't please all the people all the time. If it was 100mph it'd be a fixture in my calendar.

REALLY! I mean really ?

Several posters prior to this months event expressed concerns as to the drift towards slower softer  and in my own words " late 70`s /80s "Tosh", and the promotors then picked up on this clearly stating a return to... in the main ..100mph classics/dancers. One of the guest DJ`s posted coming into the event " Box filled and ready to go with 100mph dancers" So what exactly were you expecting? Perhaps the back room which tends to be more 60/70s Motown slower, almost disco from that period may have been a more to your liking?

There are dozens of venues in the area around the Grosvenor playing more across the board material if that’s what you like. There are increasingly few venues for what I call ‘proper’ NS dancers and Grosvenor is one. I’m not a dancer myself but love to watch dancers burning up the floor to up-tempo stuff (as was the case on Saturday). I was at the night that provoked this thread and it was as flat as I’ve known it there. I don’t go to watch people ‘two stepping’ to mid-tempo tunes. Plenty of other places to do that if that’s what floats your boat.

stick to your USP Grosvenor
