FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WISH TO MAKE A DONATION AND UNABLE TO ATTEND HERE ARE THE DETAIL'S: THANK YOU. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WISH TO MAKE A DONATION AND UNABLE TO ATTEND HERE ARE THE DETAIL'S: THANK YOU.

As Andy was a local lad, Paula Crane and her family thought donations to a local branch would be appropriate, so cheques should be made out to: Royal British Legion Ditchling & District Branch secretary:

Mrs Margaret Bovill,

16, Willowbrook Way,

Hassocks,

BN6 8QD,

Saturday 7th August

Celebrationof Andy Crane’s life in Northern Soul Music.

Thank you, I raise my glass and toast everyone who came along on Saturday 7th to give Andy a fitting send off. We were all there for one reason only and that was to remember Andy and celebrate his life in the only way we Soul people know how to, with the music he, and we, love to hear and dance to.

To Paula’s family: Emma, Lee, Chloe, June, Juan, Mandy, Sheldon, Gary, Laura, Geoffrey, Steve and Lisa, thank you.

I have to mention a few far-flung friends: Sandie Care and Billy, Roz, Dave Jopling, Pete Lodge &Charlie from York, Fraser Adamson from London, Dave McGarel from Weymouth, James Elliott and adorable family from Stoke on Trent, Lee Bate’s North EastKent, Matt and Sarah from Trowbridge, Russ and Jenny Fareham, Ridd’s not seen for decade’s, Julie Moore, Colin Smith not seen for year’s. Many more friends, too many to mention, came from less exotic places (Sussex and West Kent)all making it a truly wonderful and unforgettable nigh tof celebration, thank you all so very much.

It was a rousing happy send off for our dearfriend, the dance floor was buzzing, like buzz bingo, all night. We were all slightly in a daze, for one, it was our first post lockdown function and two, because we were there under slightly abnormal circumstances. It all felt a little surreal, as we talked and shared bittersweet memories spent with Andy. Yet we still tripped alight fandango to the magnificent tunes the DJ’s played, many thanks to:Paddy Shevlin, Steve Guarnori, Steve Lyons, Jok Evans and Stuart Trevelion for stepping in for Shay. Youwere utterly brilliant, it could not have been bettered in any way whatsoever, perfectos amigos.

A big thank you to Simon Preston from Newbury for helping Keith with the equipment.

One of the star’s of the evening was without a doubt Jacqueline Shelvin for ‘personing’ the door for us. We Paula, Keith and myself couldn’t have managed it without your valuable assistance. In all the mayhem, Jacque meticulously kept a record of numbers and of everyone who made donation’s to the Royal British Legion, Andy’s chosen charity.Jacque also managed to keep me informed on all matters all night long. To our amazement, it appeared all interested parties thought Paula was the only rightful winner of the picture auction. So the picture was gifted to Paula with love from everybody in the room.

Paula has now added to, and sent all the money raised, off to the Royal British Legion, Ditchling and Hassocks branch.

My friends, I wish I had an answer for why we lost Andy, but I haven’t, I wish I could bring him back, but I can’t. The only thing we can do now is to remember him and keep him alive in Northern Soul Music.
