Perched on the coast of North Wales, the Pontins holiday camp at Prestatyn probably wouldn't be your first choice venue for a Rare Soul Weekender. But in 2002 a group of enthusiastic Soul music officianadoes led by DJ Mark Fletcher, put on the first of twenty events that spanned over sixteen years.

The Prestatyn Weekenders had it all, live performers from the USA were blended with the Rare Soul Scene's top DJs and collectors to deliver an experience for Soul music fans that they never could have imagined was possible. Every shade of Soul was catered for, from Northern, Modern, R"n"B, Soulful House, Crossover, Funk, Jazz, Ska, Bluebeat and Motown.

The combination of large wooden dance floors, big sound systems and on site accommodation and catering was a winning recipe, and Soul fans flocked in their thousands to attend the events, savour the atmosphere and dance the night away.

This book will take you back in time to each Weekender in turn, detailing the moments, movers and shakers that made each event so special.
