Am sure some of you out there may remember a fairly active thread a few months ago here on Soul Source about this project.

Well time moves on and here pushed out amongst all the summer going ons is words on the end result.

Firstly a clip of a news item from the NME website which has the main meat...

"NME snapper Dean Chalkley is set to open a photographic exhibition and screen a short film based on Northern Soul in London later this month.

The exhibition, entitled Young Souls, takes place in Kingly Court's Youth Club from July 21 until August 4.

Explaining the concept behind his self-funded project, Chalkley said: "I didn't set out to create the definitive story of Northern Soul, but I did aim to celebrate it.

The photographic aspect is a study focusing on the current burgeoning generation of young people getting into the scene, whereas the film brings the atmosphere and wonder of Northern Soul to life."

not seen it yet? but took part in it had a fantastic day with trickster,gill soper,dave goldswain and a few others...have heard great reports about it when it was shown at the 100 club recently,dean is a really nice fella...ktf

It's a cracking little film, was at the filming and the showing at 100 club, theres a free do and showing at Bethnal green working mans club Thurs night, free guestlist

myself,casper and sue,andy and tracy holroyd would all love to see this film but we cant make a trip down to london on thurs do to work commitments? but anyway hope all goes well as im sure it will after the last reports i heard about it? and hopefully us midlanders who took part will get the chance to see it?

we had a fantastic day filming and dancing at the dome... thursday just not the ideal day , as Tommo says with work n' travel etc .. hope to get to the exhibition though ..

Dean and the film crew showed such a passion and understanding of what they wanted to film and the younger genearation of soulies were fantastic in everyway possible, in dance and dress , and passion about the music that has fueled us now for decades... top people ! :hatsoff2:

hope to see some of them at stoke all nighter this weekend ... :thumbsup:

Is this any connection to the you tube clip THE OBSESSION OF NORTHERN SOUL 3. Tommo dancing to Mary Love halfway through,noticed Casper on there as well.Great film
