Wattstax DVD - a new DVD release of this classic concert

Wattstax DVD - new release "Wattstax," is the 1973 documentary directed by Mel Stuart.

In August 1972, seven years after the Watts riots, the legendary Stax recording label staged a benefit concert in Los Angeles for 90,000 people. As time went by, it became known as the Black Woodstock. This features Staxs biggest stars, this 1972 concert at the Los Angeles Coliseum was arguably more remarkable than its hippie predecessor. Isaac Hayes was at the height of Shaft glory, the Bar-Kays ignited funk dynamite and Rufus Thomas redefined crowd control. Also stars Raymond Allen, Luther Ingram, Jesse Jackson, Albert King, Ted Lange and Little Milton. Richard Pryors commentary ties it all together.
