'Tony's Empress Ballroom is star of new film documentary'

Details of an upcoming showing of a specially-commissioned documentary which is part of a campaign to 'bring a unique part of Blackburn’s heritage back to life' make up a current article on the Lancashire TelegraphWebsite

'On Saturday there will be two invitation-only screenings of a specially-commissioned documentary in which former regulars at Tony’s Empress Ballroom share their memories of the dancehall which for 80 years was at the heart of Blackburn’s nightlife.

Then the public will be able to see the film when it becomes ‘an exhibit’ at Blackburn Museum with regular screenings over a two week period.'

Yes I’ve spoke to Pete who is spearheading the campaign to get Tony,s up and running again and to get it the recognition it full y deserves it was a little Gem in the middle of Blackburn in which a great many people over a great many years found happiness, Northern Soulies included , Good luck with their venture and if they are successful maybe we could put on a Retro MYL all nighter there for all our past patrons and for those who didn’t get the chance to visit it in its prime
