Information

Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings have come a long way since their humble beginnings nearly a decade ago. Steeped within the gilded and gritty sounds of gospel, soul and funk, this nine-piece Brooklyn collective has continued to electrify fans, disc jockeys, critics, record collectors, and bloggers the world-over with their authentic, heart-felt sound. The band's three critically-acclaimed albums - Dap Dippin', Naturally and 100 Days, 100 Nights - recall an analog era led by iconic studios like those at Motown and Stax Records.

As distinguished as their recordings may be, however, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings have truly become renowned thanks to their incredible live show, not to mention their relentless touring. And though it's certainly no easy task to keep such a vast ensemble on the road, the band continues to pack hundreds of clubs worldwide, from legendary venues like New York's Apollo Theater, Beacon Theater and Central Park's SummerStage to their show-stopping sets at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Roskilde, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits and WOMAD. AGMP and Inner City Music are now delighted to present this great band at Manchester's iconic Ritz venue. Advance booking strongly recommended.

Seen her in April earlier this year at coco's and she absolutely blew me away. I'm not usually a fan of live acts but these guys really put on a performance, the band is so tight and her voice is oh so good!

a modern day soul sister for sure!

Not been to the Ritz for a fair few years. Is the big cloakroom downstairs still open?

Proper live soul music.:thumbsup::thumbup: What an incredible performance, only spoiled slightly by the proportion of the crowd who looked like they came from Didsbury and seriously did not know when to shut the fuck up. Sharon's talking between songs was drowned. Nice to see her do Everybody Needs Somebody to Love as a tribute to Solomon Burke. If you didn't go and could've, you should've.

Completely sold out at the Paradiso in Amsterdam on a drizzly Monday night. Sharon Jones is dynamite on stage and the crowd were wild for her and the band.

Shame we could hardly see a thing though. We got there a bit late (a 13km cycle ride through the mist-filled woods of Amsterdam) and were at the back of the hall. There was no room to move - and the Dutch are the tallest nation in the world! yes.gifhuh.gif

What a fantastic night, saw loads of familiar faces, watched the show from the balcony. For over an hour she ( Sharon Jones) never stopped.

Must agree with Soulfinger though there seemed a lot of people there just for a night out.

A soulnight after the show would have just finished the night off:lol:
