here's some of the blurb...

ailing from Saginaw, Michigan the Ringleaders first recorded for George and Ernie Leaner in April of 1966. Their sole release for M-Pac! eventually caught on in the Northern Soul scene and today copies sell for hundreds of dollars. Adding to the group’s lore, two acetates with the unreleased tracks “All of My Life” and “This Is Goodbye” surfaced in the UK in the 1980s becoming holy grails of sorts, and cementing the Ringleaders as Northern Soul heavyweights. Presented here for the first time are two additional unissued tracks from The Ringleaders. Eight months after their first release, the Ringleaders recorded “Grin And Bare It” and the following month, January of 1967, they tracked “I’ve Got To Find My Baby” in their final session for the Leaners. Although these are unreleased tracks, we have faithfully reproduced the M-Pac! label to pay homage to how they would have looked had they been released in 1967. This is just a sampling of many great tracks to follow as part of The One-derful! Collecton, so stay tuned!

Agreed, these are exciting finds and excellent quality. Looking forward to Secret Stash releasing the "One-derful" LP series to see what else we have been missing all this time!

I'm new to the forum, so I don't want to step out of line and self-promote. But to give you a little more info, we're doing 6 double LP/CD compilations with each one focused on a different label - One-derful!, Mar-V-Lus, M-Pac!, Halo, Midas, and Toddlin' Town. We're finished with the tape transfers, mixing, and mastering for 5 out of 6 and I believe there will be a combined 57 tracks that are un-issued (the vast majority of which haven't appeared elsewhere). We're also doing at least 7 more 45s (mainly as bonus 45s for the compilations). We'll keep you updated as things move forward!

Hi Will, are there any plans to release Harold Burrage's - "I'm in love.",from the P-Vine LP.? Or do you have any history on this track.?

It's a great double header - 'Baby can't you see' is the B side, a great dancer, and the A side is 'I'm still hurt'. The label is Sound of Soul, though obviously that's taking into consideration it's a Secret Stash issue. It was available along with the other two when I ordered them, not sure if it's still there.

The Soundcloud link Secret Stash sent me is now locked it seems so you could try their site https://secretstashrecords.com/ which at present opens with a page with these three on.

Kev,

"I'm in Love" is a great tune! As far as our One-derful! Collection series (the 6xcds / 12xlps) we're not including "I'm in Love", but I believe we will be helping the Leaner family put together additional releases in the future, so there's a good chance we'll have another opportunity to include it!

We're including four Harold Burrage tracks on our M-Pac! compilation - we wanted to make sure we included "Things Ain't What They Used To Be" and "Got to Find Away" and we also wanted to make sure we were contributing something new that hadn't been heard before. Fortunately we were able to find two really great unreleased tracks from Harold Burrage - "Bad Situation" and "Mountain of Soul"

Here are some sound clips:

https://secretstashrecords.com/AudioClips/ssrlp35-3/c1-haroldburrage-mountainofsoul90.mp3

As far as info about "I'm in Love," I just did a quick search through the Leaner's tape card index and the only result I got was for a tape from June of 1965. However, I doubt that it was recorded then - In June of 1965, the Leaners backed up all of their earlier tapes onto 1/4" tapes.

We're going to start taking pre-orders for the One-derful Collection on Tuesday, so I'll be sure to post a link that will have more details about the releases and audio clips for all of the tracks.

Both of the Ringleaders tracks are excellent! I have ordered both 45s and I am eagerly waiting for delivery. The stand out track for me though is the Sharpees "take me to your leader". The horn arrangement in the chorus is mindblowing. Both uptempo tracks will definitely be played by me next time I DJ!

Btw, is there another version of the Sharpees Take me to your leader? I got a notion of recognition...

I just heard that Sharpees track! What a monster of a record! Can't believe a song that good has been buried that long. If they keep digging out stuff as good as this and that Valdons record then more power to 'em...

Kev,

I've never heard that version! Very cool. That is likely the exact same backing track (mabye mixed a little different, or a different take from the same session) as the Harold Burrage track... Ben Brown and M. Rogers (Maurice Rogers) along with Gordon Keith were doing some production work at One-derful! (Al Tamms on Midas for example) around the time they started up Steeltown!

I must be the only person on the thread who isn't taken by the Sharpees track so I've ordered the other two along with the Valdons which is the best new tune to me I've heard for ages! :)
