Cheers Mr Flynnster. I was writing down basically what Gary says and as that is an actual record I didn't question it.

My pleasure...got a few more gap fillers for you as I flick through various sets you have on MixCloud...will PM you.

Carl just asked me about the female 'Love is a serious business'. Grace Kennedy, came out on UK DJM LP 'I'm starting again'. But not even in my most big hair and big shoulder pads, would I have played it !!!!!!!!!!!!, not me me sir......

Would it be Adam Djing Dave, can you take a listen when you get two minutes, 45 minutes onwards.

Good work Chalky...appreciated

Just flicking through the Gary Rushbrooke set...the one you have listed as 'Soulmates - Sockin Soul' (track #20) is actually the Green Grunchons All Stars, 'Guys & Gals Bounce' on Boogaloo'...its the instrumental of 'Karate Boogaloo'.

:hatsoff2:

Actually, it the copy that Gary played was the soulmates 'sock-in-soul' on double soul, because myself and tim ash found it on one of our US trips.

Right, had a listen, it was me, I hang my head in shame. Don't you hate these old tapes, I had clearly blocked that one out of my mind, I can't remember ever having the LP, but must have had at some stage.

Now I've listened to the whole of the last part of the mix. Was me from Larry Davis through to Mary Saxton for the second time, boy I must have really believed in that track at the time. Also had completely forgotten about that Joe Simon - One step at a time, that's a bit of a thumper, really did throw it around there, so at least somethings haven't changed.

You live and learn...my defence is I was quickly flicking through and its been a while since I had a Green Grunchon All Stars and the Soulmates is on a green label (!)...did he not play that version as well 'upstairs'?

Still got the 'English Eccentric' one, was gonna wear it to the 'Re-union', but Malayka said if I did, I was going on my own.

Cheers mate. I don't have the record but found a brief clip on line and it did sound like Soulmates.

Do you know the cover up (I think it's a cover up) of Kebs, Danny White "Send me your love"?

It's been a while since I did a podcast. The last three highlighted Robin and some great modern soul from the mid 80's but the 6ts mafia are getting restless. So here is Keb darge with more 60's newies from the mid 80's. Hope you enjoy!!

I think this is 26 podcast and counting celebrating the Stafford All-nighters. Another one from Guy and one of my favourites so far illustrating why Guy was pretty much untouchable as a Dj for a period in the mid 80's. n dancers, ballads, rarities (still) and many that have gone on to be Northern/rare Soul classics. Enjoy.

Chalky you ought to write a book about this stuff, the knowledge of sounds is just way beyond my comprehension - I can honestly say I've never heard of half the records on these podcasts so the turnaround must have been phenomenal, some titles lasting for maybe just one or two weeks.

Chalky

Posted

Thanks Pete. I'm useless at putting into words what I want to say so i think the music tells it much better :)

Once complete I will hopefully do some sort of lengthy article, maybe with Dave Thorley's help.

There so many more records yet to come. Loads for Guy, I haven't even started with Pat Brady and loads of records from the era I can't seem to pin to any particular DJ. I think this podcast is number 32, all one hour and over and at least a dozen more to come yet. Maybe I'll stop at 50 :D

Just a quick one Chalky to say thanks for all the hardwork on these and all the other's Podcasts. It's great personally to see so many records I enjoyed playing so much captured for posterity. Nice one.(Also thank gawd that's the end of the dodgy photos!)

A recording of Eddie Parker/Lorraine Chandler recorded live at Stafford sent to me by Floyd Zoboki. Think it is just Eddie here, haven't had chance to listen whilst it was converting yet.
