Lattimore Brown RIP

Lattimore Brown RIP magazine cover

Sad to report that Lattimore Brown has been killed in an accident.

His friend Red Kelly told me it happened on Friday, March 25th. Lattimore was struck by a car as he crossed the road near his home in Pensacola, FL.

It's such a tragedy, especially after all the difficulties he went through in recent years.

Lattimore Brown's life had more than its fair share of heartache and tragedy.

He lost his wife, his home and everything he owned in Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Two years later he was almost killed in a violent robbery.

But in recent years he received a lot of help from a new group of friends, including Red Kelly, Bob Wilson, John Ciba etc.

Red Kelly deserves a medal for all he did. My friend Eli 'Paperboy' Reed is another who helped out and put Lattimore back on stage in front of a new audience.

These people should be applauded for their kindness, they helped to make Lattimore's last few years so much brighter.

I'm proud that ten songs recorded by Lattimore are in the Millbrand Music catalogue and it was a great pleasure to help out with mastering, design and liner notes on his definitive album Nobody Has To Tell Me which was issued on Garry Cape's Soulscape label in 2009.

God bless Lattimore Brown and those who picked him up when he was down.

Paul

Gutted, such a shame after all he's been through inn his life. he was back in the studio and enjoying life again.

I got a couple of demo's through the post from Bob Wilson of his new upcoming release "Soul Survivor' featuring "Pain In My Heart" and "The Itch". I reviewed the tracks last year for Lattimore and Bob Wilson after they approached Mike. https://www.soul-source.co.uk/articles/soul-reviews/soul-survivor-sir-lattimore-brown-r2037

Oh, this is really sad news

One of the greats. His "I Wish I Felt This Way At Home" on Renegade knocked me out the first time I heard it which made me look into him some more. I became enthralled with the story of Lattimore Brown (which can be found in the LEGEND section of his site) since I first saw it in progress on Red Kelly's Soul Detective site.

I sincerely hope the full docu got made and will become available. Red Kelly's trailer in post 4 indicates what a great full-length docu it would be.

Such a reminder that behind the records that we love there are real life and often tragic stories attached.

RIP Soul Man

Gutted. sad.gif As the man himself once sang 'It's A Sad Sad World' and a cruel one at that. What a joy I've had listening to this man's music. RIP Fella.

Very sad . . . also strange that we lost Eddie Kirkland in an auto related accident in Florida just a month ago . . . it's heartbreaking.

A quote from Red Kelly on another board.

"Sir Lattimore will be interred with Full Military Honors at the Barrancas

National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida on Tuesday, April 5th at 1:15pm."
