Hayley Is Hot - 4 New Unreleased tracks on 45s

Hayley Is Hot - 4 New Unreleased tracks on 45s magazine cover

FOUR previously unreleased DEON JACKSON and JIMMY DELPHS tracks finally see the light of day.

Hayley Records is proud to the announce the second twin set of 7 inch records in the recent 'DETROIT DOUBLE' series that began with the fantastic TONY HESTOR and STEVE MANCHA previously unissued releases in 2015 – 'Nothing can stop me from loving you' and 'Girl have pity'

Now it's the turn of two of Detroit's most distinctive vocalists to deliver some truly stunning sides.

HR 019 DEON JACKSON 'Pain in my heart' b/w ' I've got so much love'

Both tracks were recorded at United Sound Systems in Detroit in 1967, under the supervision of Ollie McLaughlin who produced the session, and Andrew 'Mike' Terry, who arranged both songs. Deon's vocals have never sounded better and the superb accompaniment by members of the famed Funk Brothers including George McGregor on drums, Bob Babbitt on bass, guitarists Don Davis, Dennis Coffey and Ray Monette, Johnny Griffith on piano and Mike Terry's stand out baritone sax. The intro and hook line to 'Pain in my heart' resembles a slowed down version of 'Our love (is in the pocket') while 'Ive got so much love' is clearly aimed at the dance floor.

JIMMY DELPHS 'Where there is love' b/w 'Our last goodbye'

Again, both sides were recorded at United Sound, around 1967/68, with Ollie McLaughlin producing and Mike Terry providing the arrangements. The same group of musicians provided backing on both songs. Jimmy Delph's take on 'Where there is love' stands up equally to the version that has surfaced by the song's writer Sharon McMahan, but with much clearer sound quality. The flip 'Our last goodbye' uses Detroit Symphony to create an atmospheric opus worthy of many other classic Detroit recordings.

On my decks right now. WOW WOW WOW

These two Jimmy Delphs tracks rank amongst the best previously unreleased sides I've ever heard.

The same impact on first hearing as "Reconsider" and "Suspicion" which is high praise indeed, only these go one step further as they're legit. releases!

Thanks for the speedy delivery Rob.

The guitarist on 'Our Last Goodbye" sent me the sound file a few years ago and i posted it on my soundcloud page.  I know some got it cut and played it out and it did sound good.  The guitarist came on here one time, forget his name.
