Spaceark 45 - Do What You Can Do /Don't Stop

Spaceark 45 - Do What You Can Do /Don't Stop magazine cover

We are delighted to offer our second release on the CratesOfSoul record label .

SPACEARK    - DO WHAT YOU CAN DO   /  DON’T STOP   ( CS002  ) RELEASE DATE  :  25TH  FEBRUARY 2016

We are delighted to offer our second release on the CratesOfSoul record label .

Once again a limited edition 7” vinyl of 200 units only.

Back in 1975 Spaceark recorded a obscure private press album from the streets of California.

The track : Do What You Can Do was one of the stand out tracks from the album .

The A side  :  ‘ Do What You Can Do  ‘ was cut back in 1975 and saw a release as a 45 on the eye catching home spun Color World label a year later in 1976. This has become a collectable 45 in the ensuing years .

Back in the halcyon days of the mid seventies this saw action as a new release spin in the Northern soul clubs of the United Kingdom . Gaining dancefloor acceptance at Cleethorpes Winter Gardens, Blackpool Mecca, The Ritz , and even garnering turntable activity @ Mr M’ s of the famous Wigan Casino .

Vibrant vocals over a nifty shuffling scintillating cocktail of funky grooves makes it easy to understand it’s acceptance at the aforementioned progressive arenas .

Mysteriously the track never rose to the pinnacle deserved . In the passage of time the 45 has become a sought after 45 across Europe commanding a £40 - £50 price tag . Lost in the sands of time we thought it was well overdue a renaissance.

The B side is a killer - no filler  ‘ Don’ t Stop ‘ featuring the lead vocals of Dolores Hardy screams for dancefloor potential in today’s acceptance of funky delicacies across Europe.

This one only saw an album release in recent years following a Japanese reissue on compact disc in 2011 courtesy of Creole Music .

The 45 was issued on two occasions , both equally obscure and sought after by collectors across Europe.

Firstly on Color World as Spaceark and then as Dolly Way And Space Ship Earth . Both obscure and the Color World 45 often fetching £60 plus . Recent sales through Discogs show the latter between £42 and £70 , and the other version never selling and wanted by 94 collectors.

So £9.99 plus postage gets you a double sider for a lot less than this !!

Buy it now or regret later  Ebay and Discogs love procrastinators....

Available direct from the label or check our record label page on Bandcamp where you get the digital  download in varying formats .

Retail price  :  £9.99 plus postage

I need to check, but is 'Don't Stop' on the flip of original Colour world 45?

No, the original has another good track 'Welcome to my world' would have been nice to see individual releases of both Spaceark and Dolly Way with the instrumental on the b.

Yes played "Welcome to my Door" a couple of times in warm ups.

But its "Do what you can do" for me,Mecca quality.! Sold my Colorworld issue for £60 in 2012,   i think  - too cheap.!!

Pleased to see a healthy response - Pre orders now reached almost 50 % of the total stock ... So get one while you can ....Once they are gone that's it .

Ebay loves the procrastinators as our previous 45 showed ... Selling for £102 recently...

Found by me in Highland Records in Hollywood in 1976. I think we ordered 500 copies which cleared the whole stock out. One of the few occasions when I've found a record and the number on the label actually worked!

Thanks for the positive responses    . Strong overseas sales in Austria, Australia , and now Japan .

Won' t be around much longer if sales continue at this pace -  75 % of stock already gone ... Be warned you know what way the price goes on these limited 45 releases looking at previous happenings.
