Newcastle Tiffanys in the late 1975, and into 1976.

My favourite because they were probably amongst the first "big room" events I ever went to.

Fond memories of Keith Minshull greeting me on the door with a half pint of Pernod and Lemonade, and tipping a good half of it dowm my throat.

The Outrigger - Birmingham late eighties, 86/87 etc

The outrigger was the first ‘Dayer’ I ever attended,  used to watch all my mates older brothers scoot up to the legendary Sunday nights, we were all too young to go. But as soon as I could get on the train to the old Moore Street Station me and a load of mates hit the Sat sessions with loads of enthusiasm!  Jocks would be Tony, Pep and Ted Massey on occasions... Skin heads on the bottom bar, Skol Beer, embassy no 10 and sticky under foot, still we were hooked!

Remember it well Mel. Train over from Nuneaton, mod cafe that was a million miles from new street!! Then onto the rigger (probably chased by un-educated skin heads, racist fools!!).. 3 pints, wrecked then back on the train...no idea who played, or what was played!! Happy days though.....Rob

Agreed...a slightly strange selection but all dayers are diverse..which is good, get to hear loads of new stuff...some you love, some you don't...far better than hearing the same old...just my opinion. Thank you...Rob

The Fleet All-Dayer  - Fletton, Peterborough 1983.

Enjoyed it so much because I learned so many new sounds that day and remember writing a list out of wanted tunes. Was with good mates and I remember buying a copy of Frank Wilson on UK Tamla Motown, still got it of course!

Cleethorpes Pier Sunday 1977 great sounds, atmosphere etc Went by bus made up of Barnsley and Wakefield punters including Bub and Paul Rowan. 

For me it has to the florrie in Liverpool  2016 as a serving soldier I was involved in let’s call it an accident which I was told I would never walk again due to a spinal injury  during my rehabilitation I listened to Northern soul and I’m glad to say my first dance back  was at the florrie so Northern soul helped me prove them wrong

The Ritz. Couldn't pick a specific night or even a year. Nowadays, when I go there for the occasional live show, even though it is much changed inside, I get flashbacks. It was phenomenal!

Four seasons Scarborough 1975 had the records people and atmosphere of an allnighter. But was a small intimate venue.

For me it has to be the Leicester oddfellows alldayer may bank holiday 2019 as although I have been on the scene since 1980 I was asked to do a spot at my favourite venue.. I loved every minute of it and it was a big tick off my bucket list.

Hi all it has to be from the county where northern soul evolved ,, being a young northern enthusiast from a small town in the East Midlands travelling to the Torch (once) with some older friends was a massive experience for a 15 year old and then Wigan hours on the train desperately wanting to get there just to get my weekly fix or is that fixes then in 1975 WOW an alldayer in Kettering Central Hall only 6 miles from my home town of Corby,,fantastic ballroom hall all round balconies fabulous dance floor and an amazing crowd I still have Great Disco Demands which I won in a dance competition

My most memorable all dayer was one most of you will probably never of heard of. It was Sunday 14th October 07. In the Hibs Club, Easter Road, Edinburgh. I'd heard of it but never been.  I was going solo, and to be honest it was a bit daunting walking up to that club. However I was in for the shock of my life. A friendlier most enthusiastic group of Northern Soulers I've yet to meet. The floor policy is simple, fill the floor, and we did.

Loved the music, Northern, crossover, modern and Motown, loved the place and still do.

Tranmere Tranent early eighties we pulled great dj's from all over the UK who were welcomed to "The Village of Beers"

Too many stories and no tales out of school loads of memories of friends lost and still with us, and great sounds in the company of life long mates.

Mid 80’s. I know not which year?

memorable for 2 reasons;

1. There was a buzz about a recent UK appearance of Popcorn Wylie.

2. It was my one and only ‘return’ until about 2012.

Rimini Soul Weekender 2016, combination of sun, soul and sand

Locarno Alldayer ,Birmingham, 1978/9. It brought people together from all walks of the northern soul, funk (blackpool mecca),scene and also upstairs room catered for the revitalised mod/two-tone scene..People travelled wide and far for this gem of a dayer..And still today it was one of the biggest and best in the Midlands. Fantastic Dj line ups. 3rooms. "Main room 1". Main allnita music,competions, Gave ya the buzz as you walked in, wkd.            "Bali hi room 2." Pure soulful hardcore new wave FUNK..wkd.  "RnB/Mod room 3". the room that people forgot about,2 jocks, unplayed/hip/groovy/popular mod tunes...A bit like today...I think im one of the hundreds that enjoyed the place,especialy after a niter at Wigan,or other doo,s that are still on the scene today that still remember silly little things that happened..x

Loved Mecca dayers,Ritz,Stoke< went to most still miss em..KTF..burt.x

Loved the Ritz dayers but Mecca August Bank Holiday 1976 was a cracker.......even though Mistura - The Flasher was played every five minutes!!! All the same, an epic event with Mick Malone and Bry Millard for company and travelling in style via Yellow-ways coaches.

Colwyn Bay pier. , Burnley bank hall miners club. Two that spring to mind adventures getting there when we didn't have transport of our own back in the day. Real gear, n tuinol for afters.  And most survived it, lost a few good one's on the way.

Blackpool Mecca May Bank holiday'79. Can't remember any records, but Brass Construction were fantastic & . support band Rokotto were also pretty good. Busy weekend. Jazz funk in Manchester pub. Casino Saturday night. We also went to Belle Vue Zoo niter .but slept nearly all-night.  Lightweights.

Not really an Alldayer per se, but the afternoon session of the 2019 Soulshakers Bamberg Weekender was great fun. 

Reason: good music and good beer :-)

Went to the Casino on the Sat then had a amazing day/ night at the ritz, finally got to see the Tavares again at a recent Prestatyn weekender and they where still as good .

In 1974 I saw a poster for an Alldayer in Malvern , twenty-one miles away. I persuaded four friends to come with me   

When we got there we went into hall playing amazing sounds we had never heard before and a sea of people in Oxford Bags and vests “floating” in. Magical way on the dance floor. Youths from Worcester told us about Wigan Casino, which we went to the following week. Where I heard “Too Late” again. I have been hooked ever since.

I was at the Ritz for the Tavares show. Was a great performance. They were huge on the radio that hot summer. All the Ritz Sunday Alldayers in the 70’s were rammed and you had the best of ‘Newies’ spun alongside the latest 60’s discoveries. Dancefloor like a trampoline, well and truly sprung, you just stood on it and it moved you.

Ritz Manchester 75-77 hearing Double Exposure, Aquarian Dream etc. in one DJs set ,followed by George Blackwell, Prince George, Ann Sexton & Lovelites in the next. Plenty of nearly new soul releases played to add a bit of colour , Tyrone Davis, Garland Green to name but two, then came the Jazz Funk explosion Chic Corea,Richard Tee etc. etc, goes someway to explain my very varied record collection
