Charity Soul hits the £36,000 mark

Charity Soul hits the £36,000 mark magazine cover

£36,000.00 in 36 Months

The photo below shows Charity Soul’s youngest member (and possibly the youngest dj on the soul scene) Lilly Miller presenting a cheque for £4,000.0 to Professor Norman Maitland to aid the on-going stem cell research into finding a cure for Prostate Cancer.

This current donation from Charity Soul brings the cumulative total of donations made to the cancer research work at York University to £36,000.00, all achieved in the space of 36 months since the inception of Charity Soul.

The organisation is made up of a team of volunteers who donate their services free, along with a dedicated group of prominent dj’s from around the UK who also give there time to Charity Soul and do not receive any financial reward whatsoever.

The aspiration for Charity Soul is to achieve a donation figure of £50,000.00 by the end of 2016

I just wish more people would take us more seriously , £36k in 36 months from a standing start takes some doing , but that's how serious we are , we have a great team involved , giving their time for free , we have found a bang on reason to raise money , prof Norman maitland is THE top man in the world for stem cell treatment of the prostate , and the very large amount prostate cancer uk have just donated to him proves we are donating to the right cause , the work he is doing with our funding is actually gene editing , work he's been doing for a few years but work that is actually thought to be the way to find cures , taking out the rogue genes that causes deseases , that is also something else we are very proud of , so our next hurdle is the £50k total for the end of the year , with a bit of help and a lot of soul , fingers crossed we will get there , !!

I would personally like to thank all the DJ's and people who have attended the Roots Room this last year. Everyone contributing their time and money to help this noble cause. With the Roots Room myself and Andy Bellwood feel we are honouring the Mod scene by keeping to it's true ethos of original vinyl, original Mod DJ's and the Mod tunes from the last 30 - 40 years, alongside these DJ's there are those of us who are a little late to the party but nevertheless are now at the party. Hope to see you all July 23rd at Harrogate for what will truly be a Mod Special
