Bobby Parker Passes

Bobby Parker Passes magazine cover

Just had a message that Philly legendary guitarist Bobby Parker has passed. Bobby's guitar riff from his 1961 single ""Watch Your Step" which was released on Bobby Caldwell's V Tone label was an iconic slice of music that was used by many groups/song writers for the next decade. Haven't too many details yet but will add them as I find out more. .

Regards,

Dave

messers plant and page certainly owe a lot to that track and are indebted to Bobby, sad loss, and under credited guitar hero.

Add messrs' Lennon & McCartney to the list of those indebted - without Watch Your Step there would be no I Feel Fine...

To think that this incredible slab of R&B was recorded in '61 ffs. There was simply nothing like this in the UK at the time...

Sorry to read this, as others have written a big influence on later guitar players. I remember hearing Watch Your Step when it came out, probably played on Saturday Club, unfortunately didn't have cash to buy it. The b side Steal Your Heart Away was covered in 1964 by the Moody Blues on their first single.
