Press Release: August Heat You And Me/Hooked On You SJ 524

Release Date: Monday September 9th 2013

The August Heat Band, hail from the small town of Bristol near Opelousas, in the state of Louisiana. The main core of the August Heat band consist of the gospel trained lead soprano vocalist Eltonez Salton otherwise affectionately known as “Cookie”.

Veteran lead guitarist, background vocalist, and the August Heat album project producer, John Kent Pierre-Auguste. Who more frequently uses the abbreviated name of Kent August.

Along with bass guitarist Ronny Sonnier, drummer Michael “Joe Monk” Caesar and keyboardist Tony Lea. On the “Closer” album project additional keyboard parts were provided by local musician and studio engineer Michael Lockett. Who also recorded and mixed the entire album at his Lockdown studio in Lafayette, La.

The “Closer” album project began in 2010 and was a further two years in the making.

It is from this excellent album that we at Soul Junction have taken the delightful mid-tempo offering “You And Me” backed with the more up-tempo dancer “Hooked On You” for our next 45 release. In doing so, we hope to introduce the great sound of the August Heat Band to the appreciation of a greater worldwide audience.

Here’s to a successful future, August Heat.

yep I saw that

today is the official release date

what try and do with soul junction and similar releases is cause we get a bit of duplication from 2 or 3 or more  members inc myself

is treat any pre-release "teaser" sort of news  as a forum post

and then treat the actual day of the release news as a more formal item

that way avoids too much duplication etc imo

cheers

No worries Andy

Our Soul Junction releases, were well represented at Peebles, with August Heat, Oliver Cheatham , Elbowed-Out and Davd Washington all getting an airing. New releases being intertwined with the rarest of the rare exactly how a venue should be.

"You and me" actually first surfaced on CD back in 2009, nice to see it on vinyl now though, tip-top tune.

Your right as a pre sample to their album which although down as a 2012 release didn't actually come out  until this year,

even so you would still be surprised just how many people had never heard this track before, hopefully we will have given it a whole new lease of life to a greater audience.

Hi Dave

Hey Dr Bob Jones is like having a royal seal of approval - I hope you're saving a couple of spare copy's of this August Heat goodie Dave ? coz you may ave a regional hit on your hands north of the boarders ... Scotland's Fraser Dunn played the "You and me " side again on his Sub City radio show on Saturday - it appears to be something of a power play at Sub City - hot hot hot !!!

Right on Right on for The August Heat Band

it`s difficult to add to what`s already been said about this excellent double header but one thing i do like about it is that i was first wowed by the catchier "Hooked on you" a very good throwback dancer but over the last few weeks it is the "You and Me" side which has really grown on me . A great example of  21st Century Soul Music.

Both sides top releases, dropped the slower side into our duet set on the Friday afternoon session at the Bilbao weekender a couple of weeks ago and it went down well. Dave Halsall

Great taste as ever Mr Halsall, initially people chose the more uptempo "Hooked On You" side but more and more people are now championing the slower "You And Me" side. Back in the day after a weekender this would have been touted as a anthem for sure

Now then Dave next up on your shopping list is the excellent Coalitions album perhaps a vinyl copy for your huge record room and a cd copy for the car

Dave

Just heard a cut from the Coalitions album this afternoon while in the office doing paperwork........well it stopped me in my tracks, had me wondering where I had heard this as it sounded so familiar and after a while thought why I have I not got this already.........then was informed its from the upcoming Coalitions album on Soul Junction Records.

Put me down for a white demo signed by the group mate.

You don't need me to say how good your taste is as the label bears witness to that

Oh by the way spun the new JR Bailey track at Bilbao weekender as well as I blagged the only copy from your courier!!!!
