Spyder Turner, Pat Lewis And Daryl Grant Live On Stage

Spyder Turner, Pat Lewis And Daryl Grant Live On Stage magazine cover

Fay Jones has been in touch with news of her forthcoming Souldham 2 on saturday January 12th 2013. The highlight of the night will be the appearance of not one, not two, but three artists should guarantee a packed house.

Spyder Turner needs little introduction. His only appearance in this country to date was for a private event. With Northern Soul Classics to his name such as "I'm AlIve With The Loving Feeling", "You're Good Enough For Me", "I Can't Take It No More/Don't Hold Back" and "I've Got To Get Myself Together". His LP "Stand By Me" is a must for all collectors. Famed for his impersonations of other singers he will be one act not to be missed.

Pat Lewis is another who needs no introduction to UK Soul music lovers having visited these shores several times. "Warning" , "Let's Go Together", "I Can't Shake It Lose" and the rarity "No One To Love".

Lastly Daryl Grant might not be a name familiar with everyone but his CV includes many acts that are more than familiar. Singer Darryl was the lead singer of Fat Larry's band appearing on three of their releases. Darryl has also recorded with The Rolling Stones, Eddie Kendricks, Blue Magic, and Major Harris and had a brief stint with The Natural Four. He is also member of the vocal group Spectrum who's award winning show ran for four years in Las Vegas. Spectrum’s credits include European tours, headlining aboard Royal Caribbean, Princess & Norwegian Cruise Line ships, a Doo-Wop to Soul Review at the Hollywood Palladium, as well as performances with over 40 symphony orchestras throughout North America.

Visit Darryl's website: http://www.darrylgrantmusic.webs.com/

As for the rest of the day and night it is a real marathon of soul music in two rooms with 16 hours of music with 24 DJ's from around the country.

This is a thrill to see Spyder coming over to the UK as well as the other two fabulous artists. I wonder if we can hook him up on BBC breakfast as they transmit from Manchester these days. Is there a Spyder Turner track in the new film! It could promote the film and the Souldham gig which would kill two birds, and help Fay cover cost and maximise the charity donation. It would be great to get a full house Fay. What else can I do to help?

Ok Folks this will be Spyder Turner's very first ever public performance here in the UK lets give him, Pat Lewis and Darryl Grant a true Northern welcome.

All proceeds from this event go to The Mayor's Appeal Fund to assist The Ex Service personal returning home, Young Carers, and the Altzhiemer's Society.

Tickets are available via ticket master and The Box Office at the Queen Elizabeth Hall please note they both charge a booking fee. To beat the booking fee's and PM me for tickets for the cost of the tickets and a stamped addressed envelope. This is going to be a great all dayer and all nighter all in one.

You know how you get(I think most folk do)everynow and then a song that will start to play in your own internal music system ,you hear the notes, the lyrics, you end up singing and hummimg even whistling bits even when your holding conversations its there, but thats ok according to psychology we can all cope with divided attention reasonbly easy, certain songs come to prominence in the internal jukebox from time to time.I have a number of favourites a sort of top ten or so over many years,Alice Clark ,You hit me, I would say being my number one for frequency of plays over the years.Well from psychology again and ideas on repitition and memory and making connections, having logged in regularly of late I noticed my"internal in me ead sound", has become Syder Turners ,I cant make it anymore....,the intro notes the lyrics the vocals and the instruments coming in and out,ah ha the aural to the visual connections kicking in the picture advertising the upcoming Spyder show, every time I log in its there ,in terms of influence pychologicly in just the right place and just the right size to slip into that grey land between awareness and subconscious thats my theory anyway I could support it with lots of research results and theories blah etc from psychology but that would take about 100 pages.Anyway Im happy to have Spyders classic as my number one in the grey area jukebox at the moment ,ah here comes the intro ntes again.Do,dom do do dom do dom do do dom............Great artist and should be a great show same goes for the others on the bill.

By the way the pleasent comdition of internal music usualy last from a few days to a couple of weeks when a song may happen to pop up in the brains hearing centre,at present I look forward to a few more days of I was made to... kicking in its various parts, components collections of notes and specific words being sung every now and again while going about my going abouts,do dom doo do dom ,do dom do do dom cant make it anymore.....

Saw Spyder play a gig outdoors at the Lincoln Center here in NYC 2 summers ago and he was superb, got a chance to talk to him about his Cha-tok record backstage, wish had taken a copy out that day for him to sign duh, he still does his routine of spot-on imitations of other singers, the band did an almost garage version of Ride in my 225 for him and also a killer arrangement of You're good enough for me that was even better than the 45, Melvin Davis - excellent, Dennis Coffey and the Velvelettes were all on the same bill that day but Spider was the icing on the cake, know everyone will have a great time at this show.
