6TS 100 Club 32nd Anniversary Incorporating Kent / Pied Piper Productions world debuts

Ace / Kent records are proud to announce that they have signed a deal with Pied Piper Productions for licensing their legendary mid 60s Detroit soul recordings. The vast majority of the master tapes have turned up along with unreleased gems from September Jones (4 stunning tracks including the original versions of both Mikki Farrow’s Karate sides with different lyrics), The Cavaliers, Willie Kendrick and our very own Lorraine Chandler. Lorraine’s tracks include a stunning ballad called ‘Lost Without You’ and the ethereal beauty of ‘I Hear Music’.

The tapes are being copied in the USA and hopefully more gems will emerge for Northern Soul spins and eventual Kent releases. If you have already secured your tickets for this sold-out night of bliss, get down early for the first listening spins or wait until the peak hours to debut them on the floor.

Ady

Pictured is an original acetate of September’s ‘Stuttering Sam’-written by Lorraine along with Jack Ashford, Shelley Haims and Joe Hunter and a master tape box of that plus her ‘Voo Doo Madamoiselle’

would these be some of the masters that you reported as being thrown in regard to the RCA series of CD's ady, some chap that installed a jakoozie in the location and dumped a host of Masters and sheet music, have I got that right?

No they were GWP/RCA acetates, music sheets, photos and stuff, not masters. They were more to do with the NYC end of RCA's stuff rather than the Detroit set-up.

Ady,

Have you got sheet music for the Pied Piper classic stuff? Willie Kendricks, Dynamics, Sharon Scott type stuff?

Regards,

Dave

The GWP end went up in smoke or down a landfill, the recent US discoveries may well have some of those, they're still going through a lot of paperwork and tapes.

I already had the session sheets for the RCA end, the only sheet music was Sweetest One by the Metros which got a proper commercial release as it was a small hit.

If you find any Ady, I'd be interested in getting copies from you if possible.

Fair do's to you Ady, what a class find ! Total respect for your endeavours in making ones hair on back of neck still react on a musical nature, as they did in "days of yore".....so to speak.....And moreover (perhaps from a Detroit collectors perspective) Awesome :hatsoff2:

Adey you should call me, Ive got stuff which came originally from Joe Hunter....about 11 1966 contracts showing advances, percentages relating to publishing and royalties etc for Polaris Music, Daedalian Music, Ardith Music, for songs by Freddie Butler, Willie Kendrick, Hesitations, Sharon Scott. Two of the titles are unreleased i think........The American Dollar, and You better know why. I think they all have a relationship with Pied Piper. Ive also got a proper 8 x 10 of September Jones.........also came off Joe.

Great work AGAIN Ady - I amongst many others really do appreciate all you do. Although I am more into the "modern dance" side of things these days I always lend an ear to all the stuff that you are involved with - you're a top man !!!

Brilliant news Ady, looking forward to the 100 Club and getting to listen to more undiscovered gems.

Excellent news. You sure are the soul detective when it comes to finding those lost gems.

See you soon.

brilliant floater

I really wanted my 8,000th post to have depth and meaning..

Alas it has come to a grinworthy expression that can only exist in the strange world of northern soul - 'brilliant floater'!

Amazing so much more top unissued stuff being discovered - much respect Sir Croasdell!

And if you could could kindly forward me your Martha Starr as with all this new schmutter you've found you won't be needing it anymore. There's half a lager in it for you...much appreciated.

Just had 6T27 the anniversary record in and played it very nervously as we didn't have time for test pressings this year.

Thanks God it plays wonderfully and it's a double treat for the lucky attendees.

All Ace staff have signed statements that if the word gets out they will allow me to kill them.
